John de Vere Loder, the 2 nd Baron Wakehurst (1895-1970) served as Governor of New South Wales and also of Northern Ireland.   He is seen here in the regalia of The   Order of St. John, formally the   Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem.                                       Wakehurst was Lord Prior of the Order.   Leslie Stuart, the photographer, recorded the great and the good of Northern Ireland  and left a legacy of black and white portraits that is unmatched in Ulster. He photographed prime ministers, taioseachs, presidents, churchmen, entertainers and sportsmen who made their marks on life in the province.   His big break came in 1957, when he was asked to photograph the wedding of the son of the Northern Ireland governor, Lord Wakehurst. After that, he was able to u se the warrant of the Governor on his stationery and became the official Government House photographer until the office was abolished. This is a Remarkable piece of the ZAR History. This letter was written on March 7th 1881 In Heidelberg Gauteng in the Governments House (now 60 Strydom Street) by Paul Krugers writer. Paul Kruger did not write himself, for he lost his thumb during his youth, He signed the letter - hence his signature is always a bit shaky. During this time Paul was Vice President of ZAR which adds alot of value to the letter!  This letters context is about the political issue of the surrender of Potchefstroom and more information presented on the site mentioned below. "The Brave Collection" is a limited series of challenge coins where the recipients of various bravery awards in the SADF or SAP are honored. Each coin is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the decorated recipient. A limited number of only 30 coins were manufactured. The coin diameter is 50mm. Herman van Niekerk is a Retired South African Special Forces Colonel with a Masters degree in Business Administration. He left the military in 1999 after 27 years service and started his own company which specialized in security related training and development in South Africa and various other countries in Africa. In November 2010 he joined MARITIME RISK SOLUTIONS as Director of Operations and major shareholder, a company which protects vessels at sea against attacks from pirates and other criminals. The "Herman van Niekerk coin" is #6 in the series.

The "Koos Moorcroft coin" is #7 in the series.
