The encapsulated coin is inserted in a booklet--as per photo--- with a condensed short history of this great statesman, from birth to his death. Details of the coin is: Mass 33.625gr, Diameter 38.725 mm, metal content Ag (silver) 925 cu (copper) 75, Reverse artist S Nyoni, Reverse die-sinker P Botes, Obverse die-sinker A L Sutherland Maximum mintage 10700. Shows the Coat of Arms with the motto altered from: "The Place of the Elephant (in Zulu)" to "To Love and Serve (in Latin)". Presumably this change was in deference to the sensibilities of the larger-built nursing staff. Further information at South African Medals. Enamelled. Silver. So stamped on the back.
