Reference Point EXTREMELY RARE 3.32 CARAT VVS CUSTOM CUT YELLOW OCHRE OREGON SUNSTONE EARTH MINED AT DUST DEVIL MINE, LAKE COUNTY, OREGON       CARAT WEIGHT: 3.32 CARATS CLARITY: VVS DIMENSIONS: 11.35 x 7.10 x 5.55mm COLOUR: YELLOW OCHRE (NOT SO ORANGEY AS THE IMAGE PORTRAYS - IT'S A TRUE 'YELLOW OCHRE') CUT: CUSTOM CUT ORIGIN: OREGON, USA  TREATMENTS: NONE   Oregon sunstone, also known as Heliolite, is a transparent feldspar with colours ranging from water clear through pale yellow, soft pink, and deep reds. The colour appears to vary systematically with small amounts of copper and may depend on both the amount and the size of individual copper particles present in the stone. In the rugged high desert of South Central Oregon, embedded in ancient volcanic lava under the sage brush and grass, lies the fabled Oregon Sunstone.     The Rabbit Basin lies three hours south of Burns, through a desolately beautiful landscape of alkaline lakes, sand dunes, and volcanic ridges. Alt and Hyndman (1978) provide a brief summary of the roadside geology. At Hogback Road, the paved surface ends and 35 miles of gravel road begins, leading eventually to the Dust Devil Mine in Lake County, Oregon. Oregon sunstone, the official state gemstone of Oregon since 1987, is natural copper-bearing labradorite feldspar. Some examples exhibit red to green dichroism, and fine specimens larger than 3 Carats can sell for more than $1,500 per carat.

ULTRA HIGH END ITEM       Spinel   (spin-NEL)   are Gemstones with a long history. The availability of Red, Pink, Blue, Purple and Orange Spinel and all of their accompanying shades have created confusion between natural Spinel and other Gems for those unfamiliar with this natural stone.   Spinel is a mineral group composed of Magnesium Aluminates. The addition of Chromium produces Pink or Red Spinel. Iron or Titanium additions produce Lavender or Blue Spinel. Spinel takes a brilliant polish, so it is an excellent choice for jewelry. Generally Spinel crystals are quite clear and clean of flaws. Spinel received its name from either the Greek spina meaning "little thorn" or from the Greek spinther meaning "spark" in allusion to its color. Spinel is not quite as hard as Corundum (Sapphire & Ruby), but harder than Beryl (Emerald), so it is a fine candidate for Jewelry. Spinel is heat sensitive, excessive heat could fade the color in light stones. Many of the crown jewels thought to be fine Ruby are in reality Red Spinel. Top sources for Spinel are Mogok, Burma and Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon), known also for producing the finest variety of Sapphire, Garnet, Tourmaline, Taaffeite, and Ruby. Other sources are Thailand, Afghanistan and Russia. Burma Red Spinel is the most sought after, and getting very scarce in stones over 2 carats in size, but essentially all colors of Spinel are rare and highly valued Collectors Gemstones. TREATMENTS   - Typically Spinel is not treated or enhanced.   CARE   - It is usually safe to clean Spinel in an  Ultrasonic  Cleaner, and usually safe to use a steamer, and always safe to use  Ionic  Cleaners and/or warm, soapy water and a soft brush to clean your Spinel Jewelry.      PICTURE IS ENLARGED    Gem type:SPINEL   SHAPE FANCY CUSHION TREATMENT UNHEATED WEIGHT 1.06ct ORIGIN CEYLON/SRI LANKA DIMENSIONS 6.60x5.57x3.45mm CLARITY TYPE II - VVS/EYE CLEAN COLOUR TITANIUM PINK HARDNESS 7.5 LUSTRE ADAMANTINE QUANTITY 1                                                                                    GIA CLARITY CHART

FABULOUS WORLD RARE 4.73 CARAT FLAWLESS PINK/GOLD/GREEN MOZAMBIQUE WATERMELON TOURMALINE ALTO LIGONHA, ZAMBESIA PROVINCE, MOZAMBIQUE CARAT WEIGHT: 4.73 CARATS CLARITY: FLAWLESS DIMENSIONS: 11.40 x 9.10 x 6.40mm COLOUR: PINK/GOLD/GREEN WATERMELON CUT: MASTER PRECISION CUT OVAL ORIGIN: MOZAMBIQUE TREATMENTS: 100% NATURAL & TOTALLY UNTREATED   The name Tourmaline comes from the Singhalese words 'tura mali'. In translation, this means something like 'stone with mixed colours', referring to the colour spectrum of this gemstone, which outdoes that of all other precious stones. There are Tourmalines from red to green and from blue to yellow. They often have two or   more colours. There are Tourmalines which change their colour when the light changes from daylight to artificial light, and some show the light effect of a cat's eye. No two Tourmalines are exactly alike. This gemstone has an endless number of faces, and for that reason it suits all moods. No wonder that magical powers have been attributed to it since ancient times. In particular, it is the gemstone of love and of friendship, and is said to render them firm and long-lasting.

INCREDIBLE ULTRA RARE & UNDENIABLY BEAUTIFUL 2.88 CARAT VVS1 MAHENGE GARNET   GEM TYPE: MAHENGE GARNET CARAT WEIGHT: 2.88 CARATS CLARITY: VVS1 COLOUR: SEE DESCRIPTION BELOW DIMENSIONS: 10.10 x 7.00 x 4.15mm CUT: PRECISION OCTAGON STEP CUT ORIGIN: MAHENGE,TANZANIA TREATMENTS: NONE   One of the rarest and most beautiful Garnets on Earth.   This is an exceptionally beautiful piece of natural Mahenge Garnet. The gem is absolutely gorgeous and in absolute pristine  condition. With fantastic colour, a super clean clarity and stunning brilliance it's a gem which will be of serious interest to all fine gemstone collectors.   The color is a melange of purple and pink with flashes of red at each end of the stone.   It's been beautifully cut into an Octagon Step shape with perfect proportions.   Mahenge has become a buzzword in the world of gemstones ever since the 2007 discovery of neon pink Spinels in Mahenge, Tanzania. Unfortunately, Mahenge has not been producing the same amount or quality of neon pinkish red Spinels for at least the past four years. However, a new and exciting gemstone has started to come out of the region and first appeared on the market during the 2016 Tucson gem shows. This new gemstone is being called ‘Mahenge Garnet’. These new Garnets appear to come in a variety of different colors; ranging from a peachy-pink color to a deeper reddish-pink with purple and orange tones. In addition to their amazing colours, the Mahenge Garnets also appear to be very clean and remarkably dispersive.

FABULOUSLY RARE 3.57 CARAT VVS PINK MALAYA GARNET.   GEM TYPE: MALAYA GARNET CARAT WEIGHT: 3.57 CARATS DIMENSIONS: 10.80 x 8.00 x 4.40mm CLARITY: VVS COLOUR: PINK CUT: OVAL ORIGIN: TANZANIA TREATMENTS: NONE A strikingly beautiful and very rare Malaya Garnet from the Umba River Valley, Tanzania. Under incandescent lighting it exhibits colour changing to hot reddish orange. Malaya Garnet is one of the rarer and more interesting 'hybrid' varieties of Garnet. It is primarily a mix of Pyrope and Spessartine, which was first discovered in the 1960s. It was discovered in the Umba River Valley bordering Tanzania and Kenya, which remains the primary source for Malaya Garnet.   Since its discovery, the production and mining of Malaya Garnet has been very irregular, and because of its rarity, it is highly prized by gem collectors.   GIA classifies Malaya Garnet as only a Pyrope-Spessartite species, but this may not be the case for all Malaya Garnet. For the most part, Malaya Garnet has been considered a variety of Pyrope, since most tested specimens contained higher percentages of Pyrope as their primary component. However, over the years, many Malaya Garnet specimens were discovered to contain equal parts of both Spessartite or Almandine. In some cases, stones also contained minor traces of Grossular and Andradite. Research has now shown that its composition can be highly variable, ranging anywhere from 2 to 94% spessartite, 0 to 83% Pyrope, 2 to 78% Almandine, 0 to 24% Grossular, and 0 to 4% Andradite.

STUNNING 3.31 CARAT FLAWLESS TOP FIRE RARE  ‘PINK WITH YELLOW OVERTONES’ NATURAL RATANAKIRI CAMBODIAN ZIRCON. GEM TYPE: NATURAL ZIRCON CARAT WEIGHT: 3.31 CARATS DIMENSIONS: 8.15 x 6.05 x 5.40mm CLARITY: FLAWLESS  CUT: CUSHION ORIGIN: BOR KEO, RATANAKIRI, CAMBODIA TREATMENTS: NONE Zircon is actually the oldest known mineral on Earth - the oldest samples are even older than the Moon, which formed about 4 billion years ago. Zircon was the first crystal to form in molten granite as it cooled to form rock. It formed as the result of a process associated with the presence of Uranium and Thorium. The natural radioactivity disrupts the crystal structure and produces the changes in color and density through a process known as metamictization.   Ratanakiri is one of the wildest and least visited regions in Cambodia. It is located in the north-east side of the country, bordering Laos and Vietnam. There one can find steaming jungles,  breathtaking waterfalls, amazing wildlife, and of course, the mines of the majestic Zircon.   The District of Bor Keo (Borkeo) where this specimen was mined is located about thirty kilometres from the regional capital Banlung. When people are asked about Cambodia, two things come to mind: Angkor Wat and the Khmer Rouge. With awareness and careful management of its resources, hopefully we can add Cambodia’s natural beauty to that list. The fire in Zircon, called dispersion, is caused by light entering the gemstone and separating into a prism of rainbow colors. Possessing dispersion approaching that of Diamond, the brilliance of Zircon is second to none. The Zircon Cut, a variation of the Brilliant Cut that adds eight extra facets to the pavilion, was designed to take advantage of these properties. A very unique characteristic of Zircon is birefringence (doubly refractive), meaning that light splits into two rays as it passes through the gem. As a result, the back facets appear as double images.
