The design of the coin refers to the tragedy of the first global military conflict. The Great War, as it was called before the war with Nazi Germany, put an end to the existence of four empires: Ottoman, German, Austro-Hungarian and Russian. The political map and social life of Europe were changed forever. Being a member of the Triple Entente, United Kingdom suffered significant losses in World War I, despite the fact the theatres of war werenﾒt situated on its territory.One side of the coin depicts military hardware and soldiers of the early XX century, the background is colored British flag.
