Crimson Bottlebrush Native to Australia, the Crimson Bottlebrush is an evergreen shrub or small tree. They make excellent and unique garden plants. Their bright showy red flower-spikes appear in summer and autumn and are made up of a number of individual flowers. The pollen of the flower forms on the tip of a long colored stalk called a filament. It is these filaments which give the flower spike its color and distinctive 'bottlebrush' shape. The flowers can be spectacular and are irresistible to nectar-feeding birds and insects. Most often grown as a shrub, Bottlebrush can be also be trained as a tree to  4m. It makes a nice screen or tall hedge. This fast growing variety is frost tolerant to a temperature of 6 degrees C and is best grown outside. In older climates they make for novelty potted plants that can easily be overwintered inside or in a greenhouse. Germination from seed is easy, requiring no special treatment.   View our other items by clicking on the shield:

Greyia sutherlandii 15 seeds "Natal bottlebrush" Greyia sutherlandii is a small tree, 3 to 7 m high. It is deciduous and in late autumn the leaves turn shades of bright red. The leaves are simple, alternate, rather leathery, slightly lobed and coarsely toothed. Greyia sutherlandii is relatively hardy, and fairly drought resistant. Greyia sutherlandii is propagated from seed, cuttings, or suckers. Sow seed in autumn in a seed tray of well-drained soil. Treat seed with fungicide to prevent damping off. Keep the seed tray damp in a warm position.

Cornus kousa var chinensis  Bonsai Seeds Chinese dogwood is very ornamental and makes an outstanding specimen tree, with superb colours all year. This variety is much more resistant to disease than other dogwood varieties and their extra hardiness allows them to grow in areas where other dogwoods will not survive. A large and elegant shrub or small tree from Japan and Korea, worthy of a place on its own where it can be admired and allowed to grow slowly to its full size. The branches are open and spreading, giving a carefree appearance to the shrub, and are covered in early summer with slender-stalked flower heads of showy white bracts, which later produce strawberry-like fruits in a good year. The foliage catches fire in autumn, turning rich bronze, orange and crimson. The Chinese Dogwood is a beautiful shrub that grows slowly at first, but eventually needs plenty of room. On offer is a pack of 5 Seeds
