First edition hardcover published by Ampersand press. 2004.Unread copy. Tracked postage is R50.00.  "Elsabe Einhorn, a former lecturer in UCT French studies section, recently donated a copy of her latest book, The William of Orange Epics, aka The Heroic Deeds of Count William of Orange and His Kin, to UCT Libraries.  The work, some 20 years in the making, is Einhorn's translation into vivid modern English of the 17 most important epic poems from the William Cycle, a series that recounts the chivalric tales of medieval knight, Count William of Orange. The original Old French poems date back to the 12th and 13th centuries. While there have been selective translations of many of the William epics, Einhorn's new text is thought to be the only one to include such a substantial range in one volume."

This booklet was published a month after Dr. Leander Starr Jameson's infamous raid into the Transvaal Republic and is a very rare example of early Johannesburg printing. It is one of the very first books to be published in Jo'burg. 39pp. with adverts at rear and a very opportunistic, yet extremely humorous, advert on the front cover. Stapled binding. Book is in fine condition considering the age. Pages white with no markings. 'A brochure written as a counterblast to the pamphlet "The Revolution-and After." There is a summary of the charges against the Boers and their government, and it is stated that, "when the National Union gave up all hope, the Capitalists stepped in." The allegations in "The Revolution-and After" are denied in violent language, and it is asserted that a false letter, and an equally false telegram, were sent to Jameson, and that the Reform Committee were dumbfounded on receipt of the news that he had crossed the border. The author of Part II. purports "to give a true and impartial history of Jameson's ride, as furnished by one who was in it from start to finish," and full details are given of the Raid and the subsequent surrender. The is a government official list of the killed and wounded in Jameson's column; also the names of the Reform Committee, and the amounts subscribed by different firms and persons under the name of the Relief Fund, a list of "The Charter(ed) Prisoners," and the official account of the Boers killed and wounded.' It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 12 working days Rejected by their own kind for bearing the mark of the Shadow Monarch, the Iron Elves chose instead to serve with the human armies of the Calahrian Empire, hoping through their dedication and discipline to wipe out the stain of their birth. Their reputation is legendary -- until their commander, Konowa Swift Dragon, takes it upon himself -- for the best of reasons -- to assassinate the Viceroy. Court-martialled and exiled to the forest he despises, his beloved regiment disgraced, dishonoured and disbanded, Konowa finds himself suddenly recalled and ordered to re-form the Iron Elves for one last reconnaissance mission. But the new Iron Elves are not at all the same as they were before, and the mission is a suicidal one, with more at stake than Konowa could possibly have imagined. For the Shadow Monarch and her allies have harnessed destructive forces with the power to tear worlds apart -- and those who bear her mark have a destiny greater than they know. So begins an heroic journey in the company of a motley band of misfits, rebels and outcasts, with a central character whose engaging, brilliantly realised blend of cynicism, dry humour, duty and anguish make him unlike any other in fantasy fiction. The fantastic, heroic life of Nelson Mandela, brought to life in this landmark graphic work. Nelson Mandela's memoir, Long Road to Freedom, electrified the world in 1994 with the story of a solitary man who, despite unbelievable hardships, brought down one of the most-despised regimes in the world. Fifteen years after the publication of that classic work comes this fully authorized graphic biography, which relays in picture form the life story of the world's greatest moral and political hero—from his boyhood in a small South African village to his growing political activism with the ANC, his twenty-seven-year incarceration as prisoner 46664 on Robben Island, his dramatic release, and his triumphant years as president of South Africa. With new interviews, firsthand accounts, and archival material that has only recently been uncovered, this visually dramatic biography promises to introduce Mandela's gripping story to a whole new generation of readers.
