It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 11 working days "Timing is of the essence but a serious amount of good luck and a decent quality crystal ball are necessary" - Carl De Keyzer in The Guardian. When it comes to foreign visitors or artists, North Korea must be the most restrictive country in the world. Nevertheless, Carl De Keyzer managed to cross the entire country in 42 days, divided into three journeys. In his latest book, Magnum photographer Carl De Keyzer points his lens at North Korea, officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the last communist state in the world from an ideological, political and cultural perspective. De Keyzer is one of very few photographers who got almost-unlimited access to the country. He photographed more than 200 different locations, many of which had never been captured on camera before. The 250 photos that form his 'Grand Tour' - taken on marches, at the shooting range, in the subway and in family homes - are a testament to this country's uniqueness. After "Cuba: La Lucha" also by Carl De Keyzer, comes another unique book about another unique country. Features Summary With a "concertina" design, this book showcases the "grand tour" of Magnum Photographer Carl De Keyzer around North Korea, the most reclusive country in the world. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 11 working days As leading radical writer on art John Berger celebrates his ninetieth year, he brings a lifetime's engagement with the ideas, artists, and thinkers that have shaped his thinking: Walter Benjamin, Rosa Luxemburg and Bertolt Brecht among them. In Landscapes Berger allows us to see the evolution of his own way of seeing. He explores the relationship between creativity and politics and the revolutionary potential of art through a series of different forms. As always, in this book, Berger pushes at the limits of art writing, demonstrating beautifully how his painter's eyes lead him to refer to himself only as a storyteller. A landscape is, to John Berger, like a portrait, an animating, liberating metaphor rather than a rigid definition. Landscapes offers a tour of the history of art, but not as you know it. Landscapes brings together Berger's most penetrating insights into how we may engage with both art and the artist in society. Initially not selected for the 1906 tour, he was included at the last moment due to an injury to another player. He captained the 1912 Springboks on the second tour to Europe and was the first man to take a Springbok head on tour with the team! An outstanding boxer and walker, he did not allow a Boer War wound deter him from playing sport. Millar's book provides unbiased commentary on many of the games of the 1906/12 tours. Despite being severely wounded in World War I, he continued to serve rugby in SA in his later years.

They met during the London blitz. Pandora was a small-part actress in a hit musical; Stani, half Polish and half American, found himself alone in England - his father back with his troops in Poland, his mother trapped in France by Hitler's advance. Love affairs in those days were feverish. Pandora said war is an aphrodisiac and certainly they did not allow bombs to distract them nor even such major complications as Stani - now in the RAF - being seriously wounded while on Catafighter service, or Pandora (who proves to be an Earl's daughter) having to go on an ENSA tour to Burma. By the time the war is over, Pandora, always professionally ambitious, has got herself a Hollywood film contract, to learn that a theatre of war is not the only place where in-fighting can be tough. After the huge success of his autobiographical The Moon's a Balloon and Bring on the Empty Horses, David Niven now turns to fiction. In Pandora and Stani he has created a wonderfully attractive, totally credible pair of young lovers. Their story moves to many parts of the world - Germany, Poland, Mexico, Greece and the Spice Islands besides England and the United States and David Niven views their startling adventures with the same infectious charm and effortless light touch which made his two previous books immediate and lasting international best-sellers.
