This is a very scarce Original British Pattern 1879 Artillery Carbine "Sawback" Bayonet, in use from about 1879 to 1900. They were designed to fit the Martini-Henry Carbine. This Bayonet has a South African history which makes it so interesting. The blade 25" long by 7/8" wide, single fluted blade both sides.
