The lowdown: One of the few major complaints levelled at the original Age of Empires III was the odd way that Native Americans were handled in the game, where they played only a minor supporting role. Apparently they were saving themselves for this expansion pack, which includes three different tribes: Iroquois, Sioux and Aztec. Each has a very different set of units and buildings, both compared to the European factions and each other. The expansion also includes new hero units for everyone, new minor tribes (for a total of 16) and a new victory condition called Trade Monopoly where you have to take control of your opponents trading posts. Most exciting moment: The most unusual of the three new factions are the plains dwelling Sioux, who are master horsemen and do not need to build houses in order to create more troops. This makes them a highly unpredictable enemy and perfect for hit and run attacks. Since you ask: One of the most interesting new features for the European faction is to call for a revolution. With a number of Officers below you, each with differing experience and skills, you have to assign your different units to their commanders and direct the battles as either a German or Russian. The range of units available to you is very impressive. Starting with basic equipment, more gear becomes available as the time progresses, and the victories roll in. To command this "gear" you need to assign the right officers to the right regiments, and this is an important factor in winning the game--no good posting an infantry officer to command your artillery--and as they gain battle experience, the better their movement and effectiveness against the enemy becomes. Panzer General III is unique in the sense that you have a number of turns to make your manoeuvres, before the enemy has a chance to react. Once you have made your moves--which could be attacking, digging in, re-supplying, repairing damaged vehicles or simply moving to a better tactical position--it is your enemy's chance to respond to your actions. You can only control your pieces during your "turn". Once your enemy has finished manoeuvring, control reverts back to you. However, if the enemy attacks your units, they will respond, either by returning fire, or retreating, if they survive. The nature of Panzer General III requires tactical forward thinking--the enemy will easily quash a lone unit. Only through unified co-ordinated movements can you defeat your enemy while avoiding crippling casualties. Fable III is the third title in the Fable series of action role-playing games. Once again, the title takes place in the fictional land of Albion and follows fifty years after the events ofFable II. The Hero of the previous game is recognized as bringing a new era of peace and prosperity to the land after defeating Lucien. The Hero brought unity and strength to Albion, and built a kingdom where there was once disparate villages. That Hero had two children and the older child, named Logan, eventually rose to rule the kingdom as successor to the fabled Hero. While originally a benevolent ruler, his policies and military began to turn gradually more oppressive. Word across the land has begun to ring of revolution. Unlike the largely medieval-style theme of the previous titles, the industrial age has come to Albion (presumably in the wake of rampant growth brought by the previous game’s hero). As such, the style of Fable III resembles the United States and Great Britain during the 18th Century and the American Revolution. Players take the role of Logan’s brother, working to gradually increase his own strength and powers, and to eventually build an army to overthrow his brother and take over the reigns of Albion. The new Hero is accompanied by a faithful partner in the form of a dog. As before, the game features a focused main storyline broken up by generous numbers of quests, the ability to work jobs, own real-estate, and get married remains. Once again, the player may choose to be good or evil, and the player’s decisions in the game reflect on changes in the game environment and on other characters. Weapons may also be changed according to how player’s move through the adventure. A new element, however, is that the player is tasked with building an army to overthrow his brother. In order to build the strength to overthrow Logan, the player must actually “play politics” with the citizens of Albion, which may involve making promises keeping them once the player has taken over the kingdom. Fable III also contains an online and multiplayer mode, somewhat more fleshed out than in Fable II.
