AN-140 aircraft performed its first flight in 2002. It has high performance capability and is in serial production at Kharkiv Aviation Plant. On the coin obverse in the centre of the circle made of a string of beads there is depicted the small National Emblem of Ukraine within an allegoric composition of the sun, a conventionalized wing, birds and stars that symbolize the dream of mankind to reach outer space. There are the following inscriptions: on the German silver coin - ???????, 2004, 5, ??????? (Ukraine/ 5/ hryvnia/ 2004). On the coin there is also the Mint logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine. On the coin reverse there is a depiction of AN-140 aircraft and there are circular inscriptions between the coin external rim and the beads circle: ?????? ???????
