On the obverse there are: the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine and the semicircular inscription ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ (National Bank of Ukraine) (above); the monument fixed up on Taras Shevchenko`s grave; to the right there are the lines from his poetry: `...¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ / ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ / ¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿, ¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ / ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿, / ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿, / ¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ / ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿.` (So that the fields, the boundless steppes, The Dnieper`s plunging shore My eyes could see, my ears could hear, The mighty river roar) with T.Shevchenko`s signature; below to the right there is a conventionalized image of the Dnieper-river with the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint over it, to the left there is the legend 5 ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿/2011 (5 hryvnias / 2011).
