Amorpha canescens Seeds Common Names: Leadplant, Prairie Shoestring, Wild Tea Amorpha canescens or Lead Plant as it is commonly known is a very drought resistant plant that produces multiple spikes of tall purple flower clusters in spring. This fascinating and long-lived perennial is attractive to butterflies. Leaves are covered with tiny hairs giving it a whitish appearance. It was found growing over lead ore deposits, thus it became Lead Plant. It grows to 90cm in height and prefers full sun to perform at its best. Amorpha from the Greek amorphos meaning "without shape" which refers to the flower having only one petal and canescens from the Latin meaning "gray hairy". The dried leaves of this species were used by Native Americans for smoking and as a tea; tea was also used as a treatment for pinworms. Fresh leaves were steeped and the liquid was used for a wash to treat eczema. Used as part of a poultice to treat rheumatism and neuralgia. Gladiolus trichonemifolius  Seeds     Gladiolus (from Latin, the diminutive of gladius, a sword) is a genus of flowering plants in the iris family (Iridaceae). Sometimes called the sword lily, the most widely-used English common name for these plants is simply gladiolus (plural gladioli or gladioluses). The genus Gladiolus contains about 260 species, of which 250 are native to sub-Saharan Africa, mostly South Africa. About 10 species are native to Eurasia. There are 160 species of Gladiolus endemic in southern Africa and 76 in tropical Africa. The fragrant flower spikes are large and one-sided. They make very good cut flowers. Gladiolus trichonemifolius grows to 30cm tall and has erect funnel-shaped cream to yellow flowers, usually tinged with pink or red during spring. The flowers are sweetly scented and open at night. Justicia adhatoda Seeds Justicia adhatoda, commonly known in English as Malabar Nut, Adulsa, Adhatoda, Vasa, or Vasaka, Adulsa, Adhatoda, Vasa, or Vasaka, is a medicinal plant native to Asia, widely used in Siddha Medicine, Ayurvedic and Unani systems of medicine. The plant's range includes Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and China, as well as Panama where it is thought to have been introduced. Justicia adhatoda is a shrub with lance-shaped leaves 10 to 15 centimeters in length by four wide. They are oppositely arranged, smooth-edged, and borne on short petioles. When dry they are of a dull brownish-green colour. They are bitter-tasting. When a leaf is cleared with chloral hydrate and examined microscopically the oval stomata can be seen. They are surrounded by two crescent-shaped cells at right angles to the ostiole. The epidermis bears simple one- to three-celled warty hairs, and small glandular hairs. Cystoliths occur beneath the epidermis of the underside of the blade. The bid amount is for 1 Seed We'll supply you with all the germination & care instructions.

Strychnos madagascariensis Seeds Common Names: Black Monkey Orange, Swartklapper, Botterklapper Very often confused with Strychnos spinosa, S. madagascariensis is a single- or multi-stemmed tree with a spreading, irregular, angular canopy. It grows singly or among other species of trees and is often a loner. It is, however, an attractive addition to a garden landscape. Strychnos madagascariensis is 5-8 m tall and is heavily branched. The bark is pale grey with white patches which darken with age. The simple leaves are green, hairy and leathery and are oppositely arranged with an entire margin. Leaves are not attached by an obvious leaf stalk and are clustered on the ends of short thick twigs. The trumpet-like flowers are clustered at the base of the leaves, are greenish yellow, and often appear after heavy rains. The smooth, hard fruit is large and green for most of the year, ripening to yellow. Inside are tightly packed seeds surrounded by a fleshy, edible covering. The black monkey orange is found in Botswana, Limpopo, North-West, Mpumulanga, Swaziland and KwaZulu-Natal. It is easily noticed in the Sand Forest at the coast and is also common in the woodland and thornveld of the bushveld savanna. It is seen on rocky hills (koppies), in riverine fringes and coastal bush. There are a number of uses of the plant. Traditionally the flesh is pounded and dried and is edible. The seeds, although bitter, are dried and are considered a sweet treat for children. Musical instruments, the marimba and flutes are made from the dried shells. Medicinal uses include using the plant as an emetic. The roots are ground up, mixed with hot water and taken orally. A paste is made from the fruit for treating jigger fleas. The bid amount is for 1 Seed We'll supply you with all the germination & care instructions.
