LUCY LINDLEY INTERPRETIVE CENTRE – INANDA SEMINARY MUSEUM IN SOUTH AFRICA
Inanda Seminary is an independent Christian boarding school for girls established by American Board missionaries in 1869. In 1999, it turned one of its historic buildings into a museum and archives – The Lucy Lindley Interpretive Centre. Today it is part of the Inanda Heritage Route and allows public access on a limited scale. The Seminary is seeking an intern who will be based at the Lucy Lindley Interpretive Centre. He / she must meet the following requirements: A Social Science degree with history / heritage tourism / anthropology / politics modules Some knowledge of Inanda history Good interpersonal skills Good command of English (having isiZulu w ould be an added advantage) Good communication – written and verbal The Seminary would prefer an individual staying within Inanda, Ntuzuma or KwaMashu areas as accommodation will not be provided. The intern will carry out archival duties and also communicate Inanda Seminary history to visitors as and when needed. For special events, he/she will also assist in ensuring that the museum and archives are accessible to visitors. After an initial probationary period, the internship will run for two years.
