JUNIOR QS IN SOUTH AFRICA
Responsible for Effective cost management and control on budgets, including assisting with the commercial aspects of subcontract management. Responsible for providing support and expertise at every stage of the construction process from initial feasibility through to settlement of the final account. Key Performance Areas: · Preparation of subcontractor Payment Certificates, Progress Certificates and Subcontract Liability Schedules, Assist in identifying and providing costs in support of claims submissions, · Assist in concluding commercial issues arising from subcontractors under your responsibility, Assist in the Change Management work flow where required, · Collation and review of expenditure, cost and cost variance monitoring analysis and trending, Identification of programme variation and contract change costs · Evaluate change’s for cost/time benefit. · Involved in quantity take-off for structural, mechanical & Piping works. Evaluation of subcontract proposals. · Preparation of variation orders. · Evaluation of subcontractor claims and back-charges. · Coordinates with material expediters on critical items of supply · Coordinate with the Senior Cost Controller on expenditure forecasts, completion reports and/or all aspects of cost control Qualifications and Minimum Experience: · Qualified QS but not necessary PQS. · BSc / BTech QS. · Recent graduate or diploma with 3 to 5 years’ experience in a construction related industry preferably industrial contracts or projects. · Reasonable understanding of various forms of contract i.e FIDIC and NEC. · Well-developed IT skills especially MS Excel a requirement. · The incumbent should have good interpersonal skills as the role will require a lot of interaction with team members, subcontractors and main contractor. · Problem solving, Analytical, Numerate. · Detail orientated, MS Excel, CCS. · Negotiation skills, Confident. · Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills.
