HIGHLY DESIRABLE SANANDAJ (SENNEH) PERSIAN RUG FROM NORTH IN SOUTH AFRICA
As photographed. Previously owned. A professional cleaning is always recommended and brings out the best in these pieces. Would think a medium sized Sanandaj. They are mostly made in small and medium by the Kurds in North Iran in the city of Sanandaj previously known as Senneh. This rugs are the best quality among Kurd pieces. Very similar to Bijar carpets too. It is heavy and tightly knotted (durable). This one measures approximately with the fringes length 163cm and the width 132.5cm Believe these rugs to be mostly vegetable dyed. Typical is the central geometric diamond medallion and tthe detailed Herati pattern in the background. The older pieces are extremely valuable and durable. The one side has longer fringing than the other Herati design Diamond like central medallion piece which is commonly stepped Not unexpectedly the rug does have some colour dye changes in places wool. Back to front Tightly knotted POSTAGE TO BE DETERMINED BY WEIGHT SIZE ETC COLLECTION WELCOME IN THE FOURWAYS JO'BURG AREA
