GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER IN SOUTH AFRICA
We have a permanent vacancy for a Geotechnical Engineer. The incumbent will lead the Geotechnical Section at the Mine and will be responsible for implementing and co-ordinating all Geotechnical block cave massive mining functions for the current phase of the Mine as well as the new Underground Expansion Project. Tasks and Responsibilities: Provide specialized discipline and project input into studies, planning and business cases Ensure legal compliance for production and projects within area of responsibilit Provide technical consulting, troubleshooting and assurance services Plan and execute tasks to ensure the attainment of set programme deadlines and performance objectives Train and mentor junior staff Attend monthly planning meetings with production and project teams Ensure that all legal documentation is up to date i.e. COP’s and update support recommendations Minimum Requirements: Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Engineering Geology, Mining Engineering or Civil Engineering Chamber of Mines Rock Engineering ticket More than five (5) years’ relevant experience in underground massive mining – preferably in a block cave and mechanized development environment Experience with Geological/Geotechnical Modelling software a definite advantage – please indicate on CV Valid drivers’ license (EB) Other Skills / Competencies Managerial/supervisory experience Technical design, analysis and risk management Planning, coordinating and prioritising Mining Economics and Process Management Mine planning and design Analysing and interpretation of information Applicable legal knowledge and understanding Decision making ability in fast changing environment
