When Danie meets the attractive Dorothy and a BBC correspondent on the same day, he believes his luck has changed.He marries Dorothy and they are blissfully happy at first, but poverty drives a wedge between them. Danie sells his beloved piano to buy their baby a cot, and decides to give up his dreams of becoming a composer. One day, however, someone hears him singing a song he composed for his son.
