It's exactly what you would expect: hop in a boat, drift out to a quiet spot on a lake, drop your line... and wait. Thankfully, unlike the interminable rain-soaked "delights" of real fishing, in this game you won't have to wait too long. Just waggle your lure, and wait for the fish to come running. In an attempt to stave off the possibility of boredom setting in, there are a variety of game modes. If you're just after a quick fix, then you can plunge straight in and get fishing. Alternatively, you can throw yourself into the challenges of Tournament Mode, where you play off against other anglers to see who can dredge up the biggest fish, or Challenge Mode, a beat-the-clock series of lakes, featuring some special bonuses--extra lures and a secret lake--that can be unlocked. And then there's Career Mode, a more protracted affair in which you play against top anglers to qualify for a place in the Championship Bass (U) Classic. The level of detail in the game is admirable, and you'll find yourself taking all sorts of things into account in the search for the biggest fish--weather, time of day, cleanliness of water... It must be said, though, that if elaborate sports sims aren't your bag, then this is probably not the game for you.
