Tens of thousands of parents have turned to this compassionate resource for support and practical advice grounded in cutting-edge scientific knowledge. Numerous vivid stories show how to recognize and address anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and other devastating eating disorders that wreak havoc on teens and their families. James Lock and Daniel Le Grange present strong evidence that parents--who have often been told to take a back seat in eating disorder treatment--can and must play a key role in recovery. Whether pursuing family-based treatment or other options, parents learn specific, doable steps for monitoring their teen's eating and exercise habits, managing mealtimes, ending weight-related power struggles, and collaborating successfully with health care providers. Featuring the latest research and resources, the second edition now addresses additional disorders recognized in DSM-5 (including binge-eating disorder). Format:Paperback Pages:0

This item is sold brand new. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 11 working days It is estimated that one in ten U.S. adults suffers from chronic insomnia. If left untreated, chronic insomnia reduces quality of life and increases risk for psychiatric and medical disease, especially depression and anxiety. There are two forms of insomnia: secondary insomnia, in which it is comorbid with another condition such as psychiatric disorders, chronic pain conditions, or cardiopulmonary disorders, and primary insomnia, which does not coexist with any other disorder, Though insomnia may be caused by any number of things, it is primarily sustained by the development of poor sleep habits (such as varying sleep-wake schedule, daytime napping, and spending excessive time in bed) as an attempt to manage the problem. This treatment program uses cognitive-behavioral therapy methods to correct those poor sleep habits. CBT has been proven in multiple studies to improve sleep hygiene by reducing time spent in bed before sleep onset, reducing time spent awake after first sleep onset, and increasing the quality and efficiency of sleep. Developed by the authors, this evidence based treatment can be used for both primary and secondary insomnia sufferers. Patients are first given information about healthy sleep and the reasons for improving sleep habits, then a behavioral program is developed to address that patient's specific sleep problems. Use of sleep logs, assessment forms, and other homework (all provided in the corresponding workbook) allows client and therapist to work together to develop an effective sleep regimen tailored specifically for each client. Finally, several sessions are dedicated to increasing compliance and problem-solving. Features Summary This therapist guide outlines a safe and effective treatment that targets the behavioral and cognitive components of insomnia. The program focuses on educating the patient about sleep... This course helps young adolescents to develop their voice whilst eliminating any speech impediments. The course was devised on the basis of using drama exercises (as a template), because I dealt with a lot of students who don’t understand what is expected of them when correcting voice. When using drama exercises this helps them to understand (in laymen’s terms) all elements which constitutes correct speech. The exercises in the course focuses on combining an arrangement of concepts, which will help them, achieve great results. Some Common Speech Disorders: Stuttering - interferes with fluent speech, Cluttering - makes speech difficult to understand, Articulation Disorders - lisping, cleft palate, Apraxia (dyspraxia) -also known as oral-motor speech disorder, Dysarthria - Paralysis, weakness or generally poor coordination of the muscles of the mouth, Speech Sound Disorder - Omissions, Substitutions, Distortions, Phonation Disorder - hoarse, raspy, or pitch changes, Resonance Disorders - Hypernasality and Hyponasality. I have had a lot of success with this course...I look forward to hearing from you soon!

It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 12 working days In Tyranny, brisk, spare text and illustrations that deal head-on with anorexia propel the reader along on Anna's journey as she falls prey to the eating disorder, personified as her tormentor, Tyranny. The novel starts with a single question: "How did I get here?" The answer lies in the pages that follow, and it's far from simple. Pressured by media, friends, the workplace, personal relationships, and fashion trends, Anna descends into a seemingly unending cycle of misery. And whenever she tries to climb out of the abyss, her own personal demon, Tyranny, is there to push her back in. The contest seems uneven, and it might be except for one thing: Anna's strength of character has given rise to her deadly enemy. Ironically, it is that same strength of character that has the ultimate power to save her from the ravages of Tyranny. Brilliantly and realistically presented, Tyranny is a must-read for anyone looking for a better understanding of eating disorders and for everyone looking for a compelling page-turner that is truly a story of triumph and hope. Features Summary In this stark portrayal of a young woman's struggle with anorexia, Lesley Fairfield draws on her own experiences of an eating disorder to give a powerful and candid story of hope and survival.
