Gladiolus trichonemifolius grows to 30cm tall and has erect funnel-shaped cream to yellow flowers, usually tinged with pink or red during spring. The flowers are sweetly scented and open at night. Gladiolus aquamontanus is a South African endemic species from the Western Cape Province where it can be found growing along perennial mountain streams and on wet cliffs from the Swartberg Mountains to Blesberg. It grows to 1 meter tall from a corm that looks similar to an erect rhizome. The leaves are arranged in a fan.
