Some necklaces are quite heavy due to the weight of metal and gemstones. The most common stones used in Nepalese jewellery making are Turquoise, Coral and Lapis Lazuli. The very colour of these stones is thick with symbolism. Turquoise, for example, symbolizes the endless sky and the sea and it represents infinity and the limitless ascension of the mind. In Nepal jewellery is also worn for its healing properties, it is said that it brings a healing balance to the body and soul.

Mala A beautiful mala of 108 richly coloured, 8mm Chakra Beads  beads and Guru bead for meditation and japa. Hand made in India and encased in an organza bag for safe keeping. It is made of the following beads: 1.  Red Jasper (Root Chakra) 2.  Orange Jade (Sacral Chakra) 3.  Yellow Jade (Solar Plexus Chakra) 4.  Green Aventurine (Heart Chakra) 5.  Sodalite (Throat Chakra) 6.  Lapis Lazuli (Third Eye Chakra) 7. Amethyst (Crown Chakra) There are also a few hematite Beads to increase energy flow.   The word 'Mala' means 'Garland'.  Mala beads can be made from wooden beads, seeds, semi-precious or precious stones or gems.  A full size Mala consists of 108 beads. The number 108 is a sacred, auspicious number in many cultures but particularly in the Hindu tradition.  The number comes from multiplying the 12 astrological houses by the 9 planets.  Each Mala also has a Guru bead, or tassel to remind us of the teachers in our lives.  Traditionally, the mala is held between the thumb and middle finger and as each bead is passed through the finger and thumb, a mantra or god is said silently, quietly or out loud.  The most powerful mantras are said to be those repeated silently in the mind. This is done until the Guru bead is reached (but not counted), the Mala is reversed and the process goes on until the Guru bead is reached again.  Repeating a mantra in this way is an excellent way of calming the mind and keeping thought of  'The Divine' (whatever that is for each one of us, whatever culture, religion or belief we hold) in our everyday lives.  When not in use, your mala should be stored in a special, clean and preferably sacred space, for example on a personal altar or on a statue of a deity. Note all products have a 14 day return or exchange guarantee.

A beautiful mala of 108 richly coloured, 8mm high grade   Rose Quartz beads and Guru bead for meditation and japa. Hand made in India and encased in an organza bag for safe keeping. A Rose Quartz Mala is said to balance the emotions, thus giving inner peace and harmony, and to enhance one's sensitivity to beauty, art and music. Rose quartz is also said to calm aggression and resentment while increasing self-esteem and self-confidence, and to enhance one's compassion, patience and forgiveness. A Rose Quartz Mala is said to enhance your capacity to love others and yourself. The word 'Mala' means 'Garland'.  Mala beads can be made from wooden beads, seeds, semi-precious or precious stones or gems.  A full size Mala consists of 108 beads. When not in use, your mala should be stored in a special, clean and preferably sacred space, for example on a personal altar or on a statue of a deity.

Dzi   (pronounced ji) beads are often shaped into elongated or round beads and usually made of Agate.   Tibetan Dzi beads   would have circle patterns on it that are called eyes or other auspicious symbols such as the Longevity, Ru Yi, Heaven and Earth symbol, just to name a few. The different numbers of eyes on the dzi beads all have different symbolic meanings. In Tibetan and Chinese culture they are referred to as the heavenly stone. They are considered to be so valuable, in monetary and spiritual properties, that they are passed down from generation to generation in families and sometimes used to pay for property and other expensive items. A   dzi bead   would never be used to purchase something that was not for the benefit of the family. It is a Tibetan belief that these stones can ward off the evil eye and other negative influence because the eye(s) of the stone is ever open and watchful. To carry or wear the stones is thought to act like a protective cloak for the bearer. This belief has crossed out of Tibet and has been adopted by other cultures. While Dzi beads are used by some religions, notably Tibetan Buddhists, they are not associated with any one religion which can make them a good gift choice for anyone. The common belief that they are meant to promote a good aura or life-force for a person, help them with their energy, chi and presence also makes them a unique and thoughtful gift.

MALA BRACELET   The mala, or Japa mala, is a string of beads that is used like a rosary to count the number of times that a mantra is recited.  This process is known in Sanskrit as "Japa".  The main purpose of the mala is so that the user can focus on the meaning or the sound of the mantra and not the counting of repetitions.  The large main bead, called the Guru bead, symbolizes the Guru, from whom one has received the mantra one is reciting.  Amethyst is a stone of spirituality and contentment and is known for its abilities to still the mind and inspire and enhanced meditative state.  It purifies the aura and creates a protective shield of Light around the body allowing one to remain clear and centred while opening to spiritual direction.  Great for negotiators and business people, it calms angry temperaments and gives a distinct advantage in situations where debates are required.  It brings spiritual insights coupled with intellectual reasoning.  The bracelet is made of stretch material and consists of 18 mala beads and amethyst.  It is approximately 17cm. We will gladly alter the size if you so require. All jewellery by Sacred Stones are handmade. Sacred Stones pledges that the greatest care is taken to ensure that the gemstones/semi-precious stones that are used in our jewellery are authentic and natural.  We ensure this by obtaining stock from reputable and authorised dealers.  For Sacred Stones, the production of spiritual and holistic jewellery is a labour of love and light and it is important to us to use authentic stones in order to ensure that the desired healing and/or power of the stone is transmitted to the user.
