Lauren Huttons life fell apart at the age of thirty. She lost her husband, her career, and her father. When the future looked dark, Hutton turned to her past for inspiration. There, she rediscovered the true love of her life. It wasnt another person. Instead, this love was Sarh, the voice of Huttons own soul. Sarh had been speaking to Hutton for years, but she kept trying to tune her out through antidepressants, drugs, and overwork. As Hutton gradually realized Sarhs identity and purpose, she began to reconnect with a part of herself she had long thought lost. The pressures of adulthood, career, and relationships had stifled the creativity and curiosity she had cherished as a child. Hutton rediscovered her old passionsand now she shares her spiritual and metaphysical knowledge with you. Hutton teaches that you cant look to the Universe for guidance. She didnt find the answers to her questions out in the world but inside herself. By listening to her souls voice, Hutton realized who she was meant to be, and she transformed her life. She became spiritually fulfilled and committed herself to helping others hear their own soul voices. About the Author Lauren Hutton has devoted her life to teaching people to access their soul space. She assists them in integrating human experiences with those of the soul, the master voice within, and navigates people back to their innate creative abilities. Hutton draws wisdom from her own soul voice, Sarh, and her studies with ascended masters, those who have completed their time on earth. She believes the spiritual experiences humans seek can be found inside themselves. Hutton has previously worked as a newspaper reporter, a communications professional, a nonprofit lobbyist, a public affairs specialist, and a business owner. She now splits her time between Longmont in Colorado, Encinitas in California, and her home state of Texas. She enjoys traveling, playing with her dog, Ollie, and meeting new people through her work with www.newenergycreator.com. Minnesota Archive Editions uses digital technology to make long-unavailable books once again accessible, and are published unaltered from the original University of Minnesota Press editions. This is the second volume of a collection of plays by writers who have participated in an experimental program at the University of Minnesota under the auspices of the Office for Advanced Drama Research, of which Arthur H. Ballet is the director. Three young playwrights, Maria Irene Fornes, Nick Bortez, and Lee H. Kalcheim, are represented in the collection with two one-act plays and two three-act plays. Under the program, which is described by Dr. Ballet in his introduction, promising young playwrights are given assistance in developing their talents. Among other opportunities, they are offered the chance to have their plays actually produced. The plays in this volume are "Tango Palace " and "The Successful Life of Three: A Skit for Vaudeville," two one-act plays by Maria Irene Fornes; "Shelter Area," a three-act play by Nick Boretz; and "The Boy Who Came to Leave," a three-act play by Lee H. Kalcheim. In addition to the scripts, each playwright provides a discussion of his work in a preface. Production data for each play are given also. Both of the plays by Miss Fornes were produced at the Firehouse Theatre in Minneapolis, and "Tango Palace " also was given at the Actor's Workshop in San Francisco. "Shelter Area "was presented in the Playwrights' Premiere Season at the University of Minnesota. Mr. Kalcheim's play was given at the Theatre in the Round, Minneapolis. The plays in this volume and in Volume 1 of the collection range widely in theme and subject matter but they share a common trait - each represents a new and exciting voice in the American theatre. It is this gap which this volume will fill. The book opens with an explanation of what makes Westminster unique and follows with detailed sections on landownership and religious history. The section on landownership treats the history and ownership of the manors, the large medieval inns, and the estates created from the 16th century onwards; that on religious history provides a general chronological introduction to religious life in the city, and detailed accounts of the history and buildings of all the Christian denominations and other Faiths. Paperback. English. Penguin Books. 1957. In fair/good condition. Both volumes in slip case. Few would dispute the claim of 'War and Peace' to be regarded as the greatest novel in any language. This massive chronicle, to which Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910) devoted five whole years shortly after his marriage, portrays Russian family life during and after the Napoleonic War. Tolstoy's faith in life and his piercing insight lends universality to a work which holds the mirror up to Nature as truly as that of Shakespeare or Homer. The first volume of Rosemary Edmond's modern translation takes the story as far as the appearance of the celebrated comet before Napoleon's crossing of the Niemen.

It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 12 working days Dylan Thomas's letters bring the fascinating and tempestuous poet and his times to life in a way that no biography can.The letters begin in the poet's schooldays and end just before his death in New York at the age of 39. In between, he loved, wrote, drank, begged and borrowed his way through a flamboyant life. He was an enthusiastic critic of other writers' work and the letters are full of his thoughts on the work of his contemporaries, from T.S. Eliot and W.H. Auden to Stephen Spender and Cecil Day-Lewis.A lifetime of letters tell a remarkable story, each taking the reader a little further along the path of the poet's self-destruction, but written with such verve and lyricism that somehow the reader's sympathies never quite abandon him. It is seven years since readers left Lyra and the love of her young life, Will Parry, on a park bench in Oxford's Botanic Gardens at the end of the ground-breaking, bestselling His Dark Materialssequence. Now, in The Secret Commonwealth, we meet Lyra Silvertongue. And she is no longer a child... The second volume of Sir Philip Pullman's The Book of Dust sees Lyra, now twenty years old, and her daemon Pantalaimon, forced to navigate their relationship in a way they could never have imagined, and drawn into the complex and dangerous factions of a world that they had no idea existed. Pulled along on his own journey too is Malcolm; once a boy with a boat and a mission to save a baby from the flood, now a man with a strong sense of duty and a desire to do what is right. Theirs is a world at once familiar and extraordinary, and they must travel far beyond the edges of Oxford, across Europe and into Asia, in search for what is lost - a city haunted by daemons, a secret at the heart of a desert, and the mystery of the elusive Dust. The Secret Commonwealth is truly a book for our times; a powerful adventure and a thought-provoking look at what it is to understand yourself, to grow up and make sense of the world around you. This is storytelling at its very best from one of our greatest writers. I was a Sixty-Eight Whiskeya combat medic. So when I hear someone shout MEDIC! training just kicks in. Its automatic, immediate. I dont think I even saw the guy whose leg I tended to, not really. All I saw was him. Zane Badd. His tuxedo fit him like hed been sewn into it, and his eyes reflected the fury and the hardness of a combat veteran, but when he looked at me, he justsoftened. By the time I had his brother patched, Zane and I were both covered in blood, and I knew I had to have him. The trouble with Zane isnt getting him, its keeping him. And the trouble with me is, even if I could hold onto a man like Zane, I wouldnt know what to do with him. Its not in my nature, and if life has taught me anything, its to not trust anyone, least of all men like Zane. Hes a warrior through and through, hard, muscular, gorgeous, tenacious, and yet oddly tender toward me. Experience and instincts are telling me to run from Zane Badd as fast as possible, but my heart and my body are telling me to stay, to hold on and not let go. Yeah, its a conflict as old as humanity itself, but its brand new for me. * * * Life as Navy SEAL doesnt exactly prepare you for normality. Yeah, I can tend bar and goof off with my seven crazy brothers, but what do I do when the woman of my dreamsdreams I didnt know Id had until I saw herexplodes into my life like a frag grenade? Im trained to attack, to win, to survive at any costs, and figuring out what to do about a woman like Amarantha Quinn will take every scrap of tenacity and courage I possess. Combat is easy, it turns out, in comparison to facing your own fears and scars. And then sometimes, just when you think youve got it finally figured out, fate throws you a screwball and sends everything FUBAR. Described by Thom Gunn as `an ideal edition', this first volume of William Carlos Williams' Collected Poems is a vivid account of his formation as a poet, his time in Europe, and his interactions with the major players of Modernism (he never quite appreciated that he was one of them). The poems are printed in the order of original publication, starting with The Tempers (1913) and ending with Poems 1936-1939. Williams remains one of the most popular American poets of all time, Whitman's heir but with a voice wholly unlike Whitman's: provincial, particular, never quite settled. His material is the stuff of daily life, though he takes big risks of theme: `the urgent insurgent now' that he lives and celebrates becomes history; it can generate energy even from the past. Features Summary The first of the monumental, definitive two-volume edition of Williams's Collected Poems for the twenty-first century reader. Wikipedia: The Science of Life is a book written by H. G. Wells, Julian Huxley and G. P. Wells, published in three volumes by The Waverley Publishing Company Ltd in 1929–30, giving a popular account of all major aspects of biology as known in the 1920s. It has been called "the first modern textbook of biology" and "the best popular introduction to the biological sciences."  T he Science of Life is also notable for its introduction of modern ecological concepts. It is also notable for its emphasis on the importance of behaviorism and Jung's psychology. Toward the end The Science of Life strays from the scientific to the moral realm and devotes a chapter (eight) "Modern Ideas of Conduct") to practical moral advice to the reader, advising him (the masculine pronoun is used throughout, a universal practice circa 1930): "After his primary duties to himself, the first duty of Mr. Everyman to others is to learn about himself, to acquire poise and make his persona as much of a cultivated gentleman as he can. He has to be considerate. He has to be trustworthy." In undertaking The Science of Life, H. G. Wells, who had published The Outline of History a decade earlier, selling over two million copies, desired the same sort of treatment for biology. He thought of his readership as "the intelligent lower middle classes... [not] idiots, half-wits... greenhorns, religious fanatics... smart women or men who know all that there is to be known.".... The text as published is presented as the common work of a "triplex author."H.G. Wells took 40% of the royalties; the remainder was split between Huxley and Wells's son. In his will, H.G. Wells left his rights in the book to G.P. Wells.

Currents of Contrast: Life in Southern Africa's Two Oceans - Thomas P. Peschak - Struik - Hard cover with dust cover in very good condition.  Southern Africa’s coast is the meeting place of two ocean giants – the Benguela current of the Atlantic Ocean and the Agulhas of the Indian Ocean. They clash fiercely at the continent’s southern tip, dividing the region into two contrasting marine ecosystems that rank among the richest, most biologically diverse and oceanographically complex on the planet. The waters of the west coast are fed by the Benguela, a cold current that accounts for the enormous volume of marine life found here, while those of the east coast – warmed by the Agulhas current – are noted for their huge variety of life forms. Currents of Contrast – Life in Southern Africa’s Two Oceans first introduces the realm of the Benguela, where you will encounter the ocean’s ultimate predator, the great white shark. Here, the nutrient-rich waters wash over rocky reefs, and vast kelp forests thrive, providing food for diverse animals and plants, among them Cape clawless otters. In the realm of the Agulhas, you can explore the Knysna estuary and its most charismatic inhabitant, the Knysna seahorse. Follow the sardine run on the east coast and witness the suite of predators that feasts on this silver cornucopia.

Host Americans -- 96%, to be exact -- are somehow involved in the arts, whether as audience participants, hobbyists, or via broadcast, recording, video, or the Internet. The contribution of the arts to the U.S. economy is stunning: the non-profit arts industry alone contributes more than $857 billion per year, and America's fine and performing arts enjoy world-class status. Despite its size, quality, and economic impact, the arts community is not articulate about how they serve public interests, and few citizens have an appreciation of the myriad public policies that affect American arts and culture. The contributors to this volume argue that U.S. policy can -- and should -- support the arts and that the arts, in turn, serve a broad rather than an elite public. Indeed, increased support for the arts and culture equals good economic and trade policy; it also enhances the quality of life and of community, and helps sustain the creativity of American artists and organizations. By encouraging policymakers to systematically start investigating the crucial role and importance of all the arts in the United States. The Public Life of the Arts in America moves the field forward with fresh ideas, new concepts, and important new data. Many of these accounts were destroyed after the Spanish conquest; but fortunately, a few survived, including records kept by the invaders. This book by an international authority on Mexican archeology and sociology presents a vivid account of that profoundly religious Aztec warrior society--from its days as a primitive people, to the early sixteenth century when a powerful government ruled with great organizational ability and restless energy. A highly readable text, accompanied by rare illustrations, describes public buildings and market places, the problems of life in a great city-state, the ruling classes and living standards, religious beliefs, the everyday lives of people--from birth to death, and much more. Amazing in scope and detail, this volume will be invaluable to students of Mexican history and of interest to anyone fascinated by this ancient civilization. Unabridged republication of the edition published by the MacMillan Company, New York, 1962. 39 black-and-white illustrations. If you could travel back in time, the period from 1660 to 1700 would make one of the most exciting destinations in history. It is the age of Samuel Pepys and the Great Fire of London; bawdy comedy and the libertine court of Charles II; Christopher Wren in architecture, Henry Purcell in music and Isaac Newton in science - the civil wars are over and a magnificent new era has begun. But what would it really be like to live in Restoration Britain? Where would you stay and what would you eat? What would you wear and where would you do your shopping? The third volume in the series of Ian Mortimer's bestselling Time Traveller's Guides answers the crucial questions that a prospective traveller to seventeenth-century Britain would ask. How much should you pay for one of those elaborate wigs? Should you trust a physician who advises you to drink fresh cow's urine to cure your gout? Why are boys made to smoke in school? And why are you unlikely to get a fair trial in court? People's lives are changing rapidly - from a world of superstition and religious explanation to rationalism and scientific calculation. In many respects the period sees the tipping point between the old world and the new as fear and uncertainty, hardship and eating with your fingers give way to curiosity and professionalism, fine wines and knives and forks. Travelling to Restoration Britain encourages us to reflect on the customs and practices of daily life - and this unique guide not only teaches us about the seventeenth century but makes us look with fresh eyes at the modern world. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 15 working days During the nineteenth century, New Orleans thrived as the epicenter of classical music in America, outshining New York, Boston, and San Francisco before the Civil War and rivaling them thereafter. While other cities offered few if any operatic productions, New Orleans gained renown for its glorious opera seasons. Resident composers, performers, publishers, teachers, instrument makers, and dealers fed the public's voracious cultural appetite. Tourists came from across the United States to experience the city's thriving musical scene. Until now, no study has offered a thorough history of this exciting and momentous era in American musical performance history. John H. Baron's Concert Life in Nineteenth-Century New Orleans impressively fills that gap. Baron's exhaustively researched work details all aspects of New Orleans's nineteenth-century musical renditions, including the development of orchestras; the surrounding social, political, and economic conditions; and the individuals who collectively made the city a premier destination for world-class musicians. Baron includes a wide-ranging chronological discussion of nearly every documented concert that took place in the Crescent City in the 1800s, establishing Concert Life in Nineteenth-Century New Orleans as an indispensable reference volume.
