Advance Wars: Days of Ruin features intuitive but challenging strategy game play that will test players' mettle through a deep Story Mode and more than 100 Free Battle maps. In addition to mainstays of the Advance Wars military, new units such as the Motorbike and Flare make their debuts. More than 60 exciting single player missions. Within Story Mode, players can play through an additional 38 Trial stages. Although independent of the Story Mode, the Trial stages add much to the game play challenge and depth. New strategies also emerge by way of the Command Zone. For the first time, a Commanding Officer can enter one of the units, and by doing this, he or she creates a Command Zone. Advance Wars (GBA) Platform: Game Boy Advance Condition: New Other versions of this game available from us: Platform: Pre-Owned/Used: Very Good Condition copies available Product Description Don't let the cartoon-like graphics and easy-to-use controls deceive you-- Advance Wars is a seriously addictive strategy game. Already a huge hit in Japan, the game ramps you up and then wages an all-out war. Even after playing several campaigns and deploying an impressive array of armaments, don't be surprised if the game's extremely shrewd AI sneaks up on you. The multiplayer mode links up to four players in a variety of riveting scenarios designed to stretch your strategy skills. Review You don't have to be a military genius to recognise that Advance Wars is one of the best strategy war games for any console. The game pits four fictional city-states in a battle for territory; your job as commanding officer is to defeat the enemies in turn-based combat over land, air and sea. Advance Wars has a stiff learning curve, but its interactive tutorials can turn the greenest GI into a great leader of pixelated men. The game also offers many multiplayer options, including the ability to play against a friend by passing the GBA back and forth, and to extend the possibilities you can also create new battlefields and trade them with others. Despite cutesy visuals, this is a very deep game that is also accessible. For GBA generals looking to flex their tactical muscles or anyone looking for a simply great GBA game, look no further. -- Mark Brooks

Title: Advance Wars: Dark Conflict Region: PAL Platform: Nintendo DS Condition: Mint Days of Ruin takes place in an entirely new world where a large-scale meteor shower triggered massive global destruction that eradicated 90 percent of the population. After the catastrophe, the survivors have formed together into militaristic bands that are warring over the last remaining scraps of civilization. You'll take control of Will, a young military cadet (whose hair is admittedly just a little spiky) who quickly becomes embroiled in the conflict at the outset of the game.

Except for certain single player missions with special objectives, there are two ways to defeat an opponent: destroy all of the enemy's units or capture their headquarters. The battle system is turn-based. Two to four forces, each headed by a commanding officer (CO), take turns building and commanding units on grid-based maps. Every turn, units, which consist of ground, sea and air units, can move across the different types of terrain and attack enemy units or perform other actions, such as submerging a submarine or resupplying friendly units. Many factors can affect the battle, such as Fog of War, a phenomenon that prevents players from seeing enemy units other than those in the visual range of their units; various weather conditions.

Polarium (Nintendo DS) Platform: Nintendo DS Condition: New Other versions of this game available from us: Platform: Pre-Owned/Used: Very Good Condition copies available Product Description Prepare for brain-busting puzzles and fast-twitch action as you draw lines to flip black and white tiles and make patterns and puzzles disappear! Ready...set...SWITCH! As patterns relentlessly fall from the top screen, draw lines to reverse their polarity and make them disappear. The more you clear, the faster they come... Use your head! A hundred single-screen puzzles await! Each can be solved by drawing a single line, so take your time and think them through. Not only that, but you can design your own puzzles and send them to a friend via wireless link! Cross out your pals! Play wireless multiplayer matches against a friend; as you clear lines, they'll appear on your opponent's screen, which is visible to you on the upper screen of your DS. Clear lines with question marks on them to get power-ups that make your lines clear faster, block out your foe's border, reverse his or her tiles and more! How to progress through the game: Use the stylus to draw lines as you draw lines, tiles will flip from black to white or white to black. Once a horizontal line is all one color, it will disappear. In Challenge Mode, draw lines to clear the board as patterns continuously drop from the upper screen, falling faster and faster through 10 levels of difficulty. In Puzzle mode, solve 100 single-screen puzzles by drawing a single, continuous line to clear the entire board. Special powers/weapons/moves/features: Play wireless multiplayer matches against a friend, design your own puzzles and send them wirelessly or send a demo version of the game to anyone with a DS! Review Way back when the Game Boy first came out, long before Pokemon, Advance Wars and the rest, the formats killer app--the game which people would buy the console to play-- was Tetris. Polarium is clearly Nintendos attempt to offer a similar simple-but-addictive arcade puzzler for the DS, and although its nowhere near the classic that Tetris was, its still a fun little game. The basic gist is that you have to draw a continuous line on the touch screen to make a grid of blocks swap colour from either black or white. Like all the best puzzle games it sounds simple till you try it and although the idea of inverting the colour of the blocks so that a whole horizontal line disappears sounds easy it soon becomes apparent that it is anything but. The game can only be played with the stylus and at first it seems overly simple. You soon learn some basic strategies though, such as using the block-less border of the screen to take shortcuts, and the whole thing quickly becomes addictive. There are two basic single player modes, with Challenge constantly introducing new blocks at the top of the screen and Checkmate offering some more complex puzzles without a time limit. Theres also a multiplayer mode and even the chance to beam a ten puzzle version of the game to a friend for them to try out and practise on. It may not look like much but this is yet another high quality puzzler to add to the DSs already burgeoning ranks. -- David Jenkins
