Subtitle: How British Intelligence Broke Hitler's Deputy Author: Stephen McGinty  Publisher: Quercus () ISBN-10: ISBN-13: Condition: Very Good  Binding: Softcover Pages: 336 Dimensions: 19.8 x 12.9 x 2.3 cm +++ by Stephen McGinty +++ On 10 May , Rudolf Hess, then the Deputy Fuhrer, parachuted over Renfrewshire in Scotland on a mission to meet with the Duke of Hamilton, ostensibly to broker a peace deal with the British government. After being held in the Tower of London, he was transferred to Mytchett Place near Aldershot on 20 May, under the codename of 'Z'. The house was fitted with microphones and sound recording equipment, guarded by a battalion of soldiers and codenamed 'Camp Z'. Churchill's instructions were that Hess should be strictly isolated, with every effort taken to get any information out of him that could help change the course of the Second World War. Stephen McGinty uses documentation, contemporaneous reports, diaries, letters and memos to piece together a riveting account.   A passion for books and a passion for collecting fine editions was the recipe that created the successful group of bookshops in Johannesburg called Bookdealers. The group started thirty years ago with one store in the quirky suburb of Yeoville and has grown through the years to a total of five shops, plus our online sales. Bookdealers is well-known for its collectable and used books. We also have a large variety of remaindered books sourced from around the world.  If you collect from one of our five branches there is no delivery charge. We also offer postal delivery (when available) and courier delivery, subject to a quote.

LARGE WHITE COPELAND SPODE Toby jug modelled on Winston Churchill, England, MINT CONDITION 22CM.This piece was modelled by Eric Olson and was originally one of a pair. The second jug was modelled as Roosevelt and the pair were made to commemorate the Atlantic Charter. Some were hand painted whilst others were sold in the white. Generally speaking, the coloured examples were made for Newport whilst the white were sold in the UK and became very collectable. This is an interesting collector's item.   Quercus, 2012. Paperback. Book Condition: Good+. Though second-hand, the book is still in very good shape. Minimal signs of usage may include very minor creasing on the cover or on the spine.  336 pp.  On 10 May 1941, Rudolf Hess, then the Deputy Fuhrer, parachuted over Renfrewshire in Scotland on a mission to meet with the Duke of Hamilton, ostensibly to broker a peace deal with the British government. After being held in the Tower of London, he was transferred to Mytchett Place near Aldershot on 20 May, under the code name of Z. The house was fitted with microphones and sound recording equipment, guarded by a battalion of soldiers and code named Camp Z. Churchill's instructions were that Hess should be strictly isolated, with every effort taken to get any information out of him that could help change the course of the Second World War. Stephen McGinty uses documentation, contemporaneous reports, diaries, letters and memos to piece together a riveting account of the claustrophobia, paranoia and high-stakes gamesmanship being played out in an English country house. CAMP Z is a locked room mystery where the locked room is a man's mind that no one can conclude, with any degree of confidence, is sane.
