PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN / TRAINEE - STELLENBOSCH IN SOUTH AFRICA

This position is responsible for all day-to-day tasks associated with running our in-house assembly capability including, but not limited to the following: Electronic and mechanical assembly Install components, units and printed circuit boards following specifications Use electronic, hand, power and mechanical tools Customise units and make adjustments or repairs according to written specifications Fabricate parts, cables and test fixtures when required Procurement of components Assist with the ordering and receiving process Assist with the upkeep of stock and inventory control Inspect and test all product assemblies prior to shipment Record serial numbers and test results for all products Package finished product for customer shipment Maintain all work related equipment, passive load, test fixtures, etc. Maintain and write work procedures and all related documentation for each task performed Work closely with Production Manager to develop new test procedures and solutions according to custom requirements Work with management to set work schedule based on approximate delivery dates Qualifications: a) Minimum: N6 Electronic Engineering qualification or similar b) Recommended: Relevant Diploma Computer Science / Studies as a subject in your final year of studies advantageous Experience and Skills requirements: Prior experience with Electronic Production and IT Support including good knowledge of data networks, electronic communication products, technologies, are desired but not mandatory. Familiarity with Electronics Manufacturing and Production are also very desirable Be an experienced Electronics / IT Technician with soldering skills (Rework/Repair of PC Boards) Have solid computer and typing skills and be able to use Microsoft products and Linux Have experience using electronic test equipment Be experienced and able to use hand tools and small power tools Be able to read and understand technical drawings, datasheets and written work instructions About the company VASTech is recognized internationally as a leading-edge innovator and preferred independent global supplier of telecommunications solutions to national governments and the law enforcement community.
