The first plastic coins in the world appeared there on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Transnistria¿s own currency. Coins are made from composite material by special technology and have several degrees of protection such as texture and contour elements. They glow in the ultraviolet and infrared light and semitransparent against the sunlight.Plastic coins have a face value of 1, 3, 5 and 10 Transnistrian rubles, each coin has its own color and shape (there are three more shapes with rounded corners except simple round one). The obverses of the coins bear portraits of history figures such as Alexander Suvorov, Catherine II, Petr Rumyantsev-Zadunaysky.
