VARIABLE DATA PROGRAMMER IN SOUTH AFRICA

We currently have the above vacancy at our Print-To-Mail Operation on the West Rand. The operation requires the skill and professional input of a Variable Data Programmer.  The role of the Variable Data Programmer is to organize and execute Variable Data Print projects for direct mail, digital print and email marketing campaigns. Individual must be self-motivated and be capable of finding and correcting problems as necessary. Work to tight deadlines with a flexible approach. Individual must stay current with new technologies and best practices. Must have the ability to multi-task.  The incumbent will be expected to do the following, but is not limited to:  • Write and test programs, as required to ensure correct data is ready for the output of mailings as per client specification. • Provide data quality assurance reporting. • Develop standardization and consistency through procedures, change control and workflow management. • Create automation scripts within the existing framework, increasing overall productivity. • Diagnose and resolve production performance issues. • Maintain and support previously built workflows. • Structure configurations logically for re-use and ability for others to understand. • Effectively transfer knowledge of file setups to other Data Processing resources. • Take on new and more complex work. • Document your work thoroughly. • Offer wider technical support when needed. To be considered for the position you should meet at least the following essential criteria: • Fluent in English; • Matric/N3 or any equivalent qualification; • Formal training in related programming language; SQL, VB, C#, etc. • Strong analytical ability; • Good interpersonal and communication skill, stress management. • Ability to communicate at all levels internally and externally; • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Windows Operating System and using several desktop software applications; • Knowledge of variable data print software is a distinct advantage, as is experience with various printers and their workflows; • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite; • HTML skills, particularly in relation to email design is beneficial; If you meet the above requirements and are interested in applying for the position, please forward a detailed curriculum vitae by e-mail to .
