URGENT: SEEKING A QUALIFIED AMMONIA REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN IN SOUTH AFRICA

An opportunity exists for a Qualified Ammonia Refrigeration Technician in the Refrigeration department and will be based at I&J Woodstock, Cape Town. The Refrigeration Technician will be responsible for refrigeration related maintenance and day to day operating of the refrigeration plant, safely and efficiently. The Refrigeration Technician will be responsible for monitoring temperature control and ensuring efficient plant operation. MINIMUM Requirements: Experience: Minimum of 3 years hands-on, refrigeration experience Experience in preventative maintenance schedules and shutdown planning Qualifications: N3 (Matric equivalent) Certified as Ammonia Refrigeration Technician/Mechanic Safe handling of Refrigerants – Category B (Ammonia refrigeration Practitioner/ Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Practitioner) RED SEAL Certification Knowledge: Microsoft Office Knowledge of refrigeration cycles Basic knowledge of SANS 10147 Basic knowledge of PER 734 Job Specification: Key Performance Areas: Execute preventative maintenance schedules History keeping. Records – checks that equipment is kept up to date. Adhering to operating envelope – daily checks Schedule compliance Provide input and executes shutdown planning Cost control management (materials) – be aware of costs Skills transfer – colleagues and trainees Stakeholder communication and interaction Risk management- plant safe- making and daily operation – checks and emergency management Reportable incidents section 24-legal – ensure that machinery operates within certain parameters We are committed to Employment Equity when recruiting internally and externally.
