SQL SERVER DATABASE ADMIN IN SOUTH AFRICA

Brief overview  The SQL database environment is growing rapidly and requires increased focused attention to service project requirements, implement requests, resolve issues and incidents, as well as perform the necessary maintenance; Personal development and continuous learning are very important in this area and you will be expected to stay abreast of technical development in the SQL Server database environment. Your day to day office tasks:   You will be responsible for the definition, creation and maintenance of Client application database structures; Analysing, testing, and implementing physical database designs supporting business applications; Ensuring data recoverability, database availability, data integrity, agreed level of performance and capacity planning for physical databases; SQL Server DBMS installation, configuration and overall management; Documentation and MIS collection for the assigned application area databases; Researching and development of technical area assigned to you; Escalation of issues, incidents and risks to management when they arise; Setup and coordinate client application area interaction on a regular basis; Ensuring that maintenance plans and documentation are in place, re-visited and updated at least once quarterly or after changes impacting the application area; DBA process refinement; DBA reporting to DBA management; Participation in team stand-by activities, every 4th week after initial training period. Job Requirements 'Must have' Qualifications and experience: At least three years DBA working experience; Experience needs to include all disciplines of DBA work i.e. Administration, performance tuning, security, backup and recovery etc.; Microsoft SQL Server Database certification. DBMS Knowledge that you will need: • Sound working knowledge of System Architecture and IT Components; • An in-depth knowledge of database concepts; • Detailed understanding of SQL Server and ; • Working knowledge and understanding of SQL ; • Basic knowledge of underlying operating systems the DB resides on; • Knowledge and understanding of all available products, services and resources in the SQL Server suite of    products. Lastly you will need to show why you are a good team fit to the company and successfully complete the ITISS DBMS technical proficiency assessment.
