SENIOR TAX ASSOCIATE IN SOUTH AFRICA

Senior Tax Associate Location: Sunninghill, Johannesburg Purpose of the Role: Tax focuses on assisting corporates and individuals to control and minimise their tax burden, helping clients with compliance issues, and providing advice on HR-related issues and the tax implications thereof. Requirements: Degree in BCom Informatics or equivalent 2- 3 years of relevant technology experience Experience with Indirect Tax (VAT) and accounting will be beneficial Dynamic individual to fulfil an integral role in developing the indirect tax technology practice Demonstrates individual initiative in contributing to the development of the practice Ability to take ownership of projects and produce a high-standard deliverable Profound numerical & analytical skills and a technical mind, well organised, solution driven, ability to multi-task and good attention to detail Good communication & interpersonal skills Team player with ability to work autonomously in a customer-driven and results oriented environment Excellent English language skills (oral and in writing) Working knowledge of common software applications (MS Office/Lotus Notes, PowerPoint & Excel) Ability to understand and interpret the structure and relationships within large data sets Working knowledge of SQL, ACL, Qlikview, Qliksense as well as various ERP systems and other analytical software will be beneficial Duties: Assist with indirect tax technology projects within the TPC (Technology Processes and Controls) team Process data and information by applying technology skills Extract data from ERP systems Perform data analysis Interpret and understand ERP system data, which includes understanding databases and their relationships within various ERP systems, eg. SAP and Oracle Develop software tools for data analytics and reporting Apply indirect tax (VAT) and accounting skills Assist with client proposals, demonstrations and presentations Involved in various tasks associated with practice development Developing client relationships Ensure project deadlines and budgets are met Managing billings, debtors and assignment budgeting Complying with risk management procedures
