SENIOR ARTISAN: MECHANICAL - SIMONS TOWN IN SOUTH AFRICA

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The role of the Senior Artisan is to produce and assemble parts; and components as required by our client. CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS: Maintain workshop tools, equipment, buildings and lifting equipment. Safely operate all machines in the workshop; including heavy machinery such as overhead cranes. Fault finding and repair workshop equipment. Train operators, assistants and labourers in the safe handling of equipment and small workshop tools. Construct complicated prototypes for test and evaluation purposes at sea in accordance to specifications. Fabricate test items in accordance with engineering drawings. Provide inputs and recommendations to project team on workable solutions for the requirement. Interpret verbal requests from the project team; translate and manufacture components accordingly. Procure tools and materials for manufacturing purposes, against the approved budget. Safely store tools and materials. Work in accordance with SHE regulations in the execution of duties. Supervise the outputs of the Technical Assistant. Maintain personal protection equipment in the workshop and ensure availability and use thereof. Install and repair equipment on IMT work boat.
