REFURBISHED IMBUIA CHEST OF DRAWERS IN SOUTH AFRICA

 This vintage, mid-century chest of drawers was made in the Macnamee factory in Durban. It is built around a wood frame with solid imbuia top and side panels The drawer fronts are solid imbuia and dovetailed onto a an oak plywood carcass. It has classic ball and claw feet. It has the original Macnamee badge on the lowest drawer and the original quality certificate is still intact on the back. The serial number, stamped directly into the wood is still clearly visible. The original french polish was scratched and had some water damage. The original wood handles were broken and one of feet was badly cracked. The foot was repaired and reinforced. The french wax was removed and it was sanded down to bare wood. Three coats of ultra matt polyurethane varnish were applied. The velvet finish was slightly distressed to create a vintage patina. The beautiful grain of the underlying wood is clearly visible and adds to the beauty of this piece. The varnish will provide a hard- wearing water and stain resistant finish that will last for years.
