Front: Mao Tse-tung at right, flora at lower center and as watermark Reverse: Water Features. Watermark: Flora. Condition: Extremely Fine, very clean, almost unused bank note, 1 x  crease, no folds. Corners and edges very good, no tears. Price: R 45.00 Inc Vat. EXTREMELY FINE (EF/XF): A very attractive note, with light handling. May have a maximum of three light folds or one strong crease. Paper is clean and bright with original sheen. Corners may show only the slightest evidence of rounding. There may also be the slightest sign of wear where a fold meets the edge.

Front: Mao Tse-tung at right, flora at lower center and as watermark Reverse: Mountains, Great Wall of China. Watermark: Flora. Condition: Extremely Fine, very clean, almost unused bank note, no  crease, no folds. Corners and edges very good, no tears. Price: R 65.00 Inc Vat. Signature: N/A. Info: Black serial number. Lithographed. Front: Brown-violet on multicolored underprint. Dong and Yao youths at right. Reverse: Great Wall at center on back Watermark: Stars.  Arms at upper left, stylized birds in underprint at center, dot patterns for poor of sight at lower left or right on face Condition: very Fine, good edges, amd corners, clean and crisp note, some folds evident, no tears. Price: R 50.00 Inc Vat. VERY FINE (VF): An attractive note, but with more evidence of handling and wear. May have several folds both vertically and horizontally. Paper may have minimal dirt, or possible colour smudging. Paper itself is still relatively crisp and floppy. There are no tears into the border area, although the edges do show slight wear. Corners also show wear but not full rounding.

  J POSTMUS ONE POUND SOUTH AFRICAN BANK NOTE 1st ISSUE DATED 4th SEPTEMBER 1939   This a rare find and not easy to find   This issue of the bank note bears the Serial Number A/92 965783 and is printed in both English and Afrikaans. It has a watermark of Van Riebeeck's portrait. The note classed as a VF as it has minor folds and rust marks. The fold that is shown in the photograph does not show on the note. I really don't know how this fold appears here. Serial Number: BT8359771C. Signature: President Governor C L Stals. Info: 134mm x 70mm, Fractional numbering system. With security thread. Alpha-numeric system Front:  Green on multicolor underprint. Jan van Riebeek at left, flower at center.  Reverse: Bull and ram at left center. Watermark: Jan van Riebeeck. Condition: About Uncirculated, good clean note, edges very good, corners very good, no folds very clean crisp note. Price: R 120.00 Inc Vat. ABOUT UNCIRCULATED (AU): A virtually perfect note, with some minor handling. May show very slight evidence of bank counting folds at a corner or one light fold through the center, but not both. An AU note can not be creased, a crease being a hard fold which has usually "broken" the surface of the note. Paper is clean and bright with original sheen. Corners are not rounded.
