Ex-flying ace James 'Max' Maxted's attempt to uncover the secret behind the death of his father, Sir Henry Maxted, murdered while serving as an adviser with the British delegation to the Paris peace conference, has seemingly ended in failure - and his own death. The trail uncovered by him leads to Japan and a mysterious prisoner held by Sir Henry Maxted's old enemy, Count Tomura. Unaware of Max's fate, the team he has recruited to finish the job are already there, where their paths cross that of former German spymaster, Fritz Lemmer, now rebuilding his spy network in the service of a new, more sinister cause. In the days and weeks ahead, the quest Max embarked on in Paris will reach its dizzying end at Tomura's castle in the mountains of Honshu - and the full truth of what occurred thirty years before will finally be laid bare... Book "Love Hope Marvels" by Bryan Hattingh - Signed and inscribed 2016   Love, Hope, Marvels is a collection of Bryan Hattingh’s realisations on the human condition, business, love, family, and creativity. It is filled with insightful essays, lucid musings, and exquisite photography, exhibiting a vision of Bryan’s colour-rich world. He has woven a tapestry of his perceptions and learning so that any reader might use those threads of Bryan’s experiences for his or her own tapestry of life, unlocking the reader’s potential to embrace all the colours of existence, and marvel at this wonderful experience called life. “In the context of the world … we need HOPE more than anything. And HOPE is brought by LOVE, and we will MARVEL at the outcome of this! Buy this book as a gift to you or someone, and start the journey of HOPE. Wonderful uplifting words in beautiful fonts and colours, accompanied by stunning photographs. A coffee table book … to grab for inspiration!” — Mardia van der Walt, Chairman of the Board of Directors: T-Systems South Africa; Director: Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce “Bryan writes with the sensitivity of one who has not simply observed the world, but instead dived in head-long into this thing we call life … His writing … goes from the deeply spiritual to the patently pragmatic … Bryan’s gift is to paint with an artist’s brush the journey of life so that it is both art and path at once … So many of the books … focus exclusively on our strengths and abilities and how to unleash these to win big in business. Bryan dares to remind us that we live lives in which we also fall in love. Love is a state of grace in which we allow ourselves to be weak and even vulnerable but ultimately redeemed by its power.” — Sindi Maboso Koyana, CEO Advanced Capital “As Coenraad [Jonker] points out in his introduction, [Love, Hope, Marvels] is something to be dipped into at leisure and at random, with the certainty that every page contains something very much worth reflecting on. If I had to pick a personal favourite text, it would be, ‘One of the greatest tasks of a leader is recognising, understanding and managing paradox’. This is a profound insight – and one that I’m truly grateful to see in print … [The] photos are magnificent – I refuse to pick a favourite among these. They’re all great.” — Sim Tshabalala, CEO Standard Bank.

World Criminal Justice Systems - a Comparative Survey by Richard J. Terrill   Soft cover Eighth Edition - 723 pages This book offers criminologists and students an evidence-based discussion of the latest trends in corrections. Over the last several decades, research has clearly shown that rehabilitation efforts can be effective at reducing recidivism among criminal offenders. However, researchers also recognize that treatment is not a "one size fits all" approach. Offenders vary by gender,  age, crime type, and/or addictions, to name but a few, and these individual needs must be addressed by providers.

"The Pillars of the Earth" is his bestselling book of all time. Now, eighteen years after the publication of "The Pillars of the Earth," Ken Follett has written the most-anticipated sequel of the year, "World Without End." In 1989 Ken Follett astonished the literary world with "The Pillars of the Earth," a sweeping epic novel set in twelfth-century England centered on the building of a cathedral and many of the hundreds of lives it affected. Critics were overwhelmedit will hold you, fascinate you, surround you ("Chicago Tribune")and readers everywhere hoped for a sequel. "World Without End" takes place in the same town of Kingsbridge, two centuries after the townspeople finished building the exquisite Gothic cathedral that was at the heart of "The Pillars of the Earth," The cathedral and the priory are again at the center of a web of love and hate, greed and pride, ambition and revenge, but this sequel stands on its own. This time the men and women of an extraordinary cast of characters find themselves at a crossroad of new ideas about medicine, commerce, architecture, and justice. In a world where proponents of the old ways fiercely battle those with progressive minds, the intrigue and tension quickly reach a boiling point against the devastating backdrop of the greatest natural disaster ever to strike the human racethe Black Death. Three years in the writing, and nearly eighteen years since its predecessor, "World Without End" breathes new life into the epic historical novel and once again shows that Ken Follett is a masterful author writing at the top of his craft.
