Description:  The Press Printing and Publishing Works, Pretoria, 1894.  Hard cover, pictorial boards.  Condition:  The cover has some insect damage, esp. along top edges, front and back.  Spine is bumped, top and bottom and there is rubbing to spine and the cover in general.  The gilt printing is nice and tight and intact.  Interiorly there is a number 2 on the front end page that has been rubbed!  The binding is loose in places with the preface and one other page completely adrift.  There is some blue ink on the page edges, see pic. There is also minor foxing on the end papers.   Otherwise good condition for its age.  "A volume of Pictorial Satire Depicting our Politics and Men for the Last Thirty Years in Black and White.

The collection contains a number of historically important works and works by contemporary artists. The collection has its origins in artworks that were accumulated and intended for display in hotels attached to the railway stations in Cape Town and Pretoria.
