Cheiridopsis namaquensis 10 seeds Cheiridopsis is a genus that consists of 100 flowering succulent perennial plants, native to semi-arid regions of Namibia and southern Africa. Most are clump-forming, a few are shrubby. The leaves are opposite and triangular in section, rarely flattened, the surface more or less velvety, which makes them easy to distinguish from species of the allied genus Argyroderma. The Cheiridopsis are easy to grow. These plants grow in winter rain-areas and head for dormancy in summer. Requires little water, otherwise its epidermis breaks (resulting in unsightly scars). Regular water in autumn through to spring. Water minimally in summer, only when the plant starts shrivelling but it will generally grow even in summer if given water. Requires good drainage. Keep cool and shaded in summer, needs full sun or light shade. Hardy to -2°C (or less) Sow seeds from early autumn to late autumn in 12.5cm or even 10cm pots. Seeds can be sown directly on top of the soil, it's not necessary to cover the seeds with a layer of soil. After sowing the seeds directly onto the soil, wet the soil using a fine spray. Cover the pot with clear plastic (I use cling wrap) and fasten it with an elastic band. Pots should be put in a shaded (40% shade-cloth) spot. Seeds should start germinating after a couple of days. Remove the plastic a few days after the seeds have started germinating, if left on to long rot will kill off the seedlings.

Gladiolus quadrangulus Seeds Gladiolus quadrangulus is unusual in producing no nectar and having a perianth tube too narrow for an insect's tongue. It has prominently displayed anthers and only a light fragrance. It's therefore assumed (Goldblatt) that the flowers of G. quadrangulus offer pollen as a reward for pollinators - a rare strategy in the genus. It is easily grown, which is fortunate as its long term survival in the wild seems unlikely, and quite delightful. On offer is a pack of 10 Seeds Free "How to grow Gladiolus" guide included See lots more bonsai, carnivorous, succulent, protea & other interesting plant seeds by following the link below. Thanks.   MELON HALES BEST JUMBO AKA Spanspek   Hale's Best Melon - HEIRLOOM Heavy producer of oval-shaped muskmelons averaging 2-2 ½ kg each. Melons are heavily netted and slightly ribbed with juicy salmon flesh. This great variety has stood the test of time and is still loved by many for its old-fashioned melon flavor. Good resistance to Powdery Mildew, and resistant to drought. When growing melons, you will need plenty of room for the vines to stretch and grow. It is essential that your plant your melons in an area where they will receive a lot of sunlight. Your melons will require healthy soil and plenty of hydration to grow to their best Prepare some fertile and rich soil for planting by working compost or natural fertilizers into the soil. You should then dig mounds of two or three inches to plant the melon seeds. The melon seeds only need to be planted about 25mm down into the mounds. You can plant up to a dozen seeds in each mound. Do not allow too many melon plants to sprout in each hill. Too many plants in one spot will restrict the growth of the plants. To further ensure that the melon vines will have enough room to grow, you should make certain each mound of seeds is planted 120cm apart It can take awhile for your melons to grow. They will not typically be ready to harvest until they have been planted in the ground for three months or more.   ALOE FEROX Also known as Cape Aloe is the largest cactus in the aloe family, sometimes reaching 2 1/2m tall. It originates from South Africa and features large, fleshy, succulent-type leaves that boast a blueish-green hue and thorny texture. Mature plants take on a reddish hue in the winter and produce an exotic bloom in the spring. Aloe Ferox leaves also contain the clear, soothing gel that smaller varieties of Aloe are famous for. Plant the seeds in a pot with a high drainage growing medium like gritty potting mix. When the plant is established you can transplant it outdoors. In very warm climates, Aloe Ferox can be propagated outdoors. Select a garden location. Aloe Ferox is a large plant, so find a place with a width of 90 to 150 cm all around. Make sure there is good drainage in the spot you choose. Aloe Ferox also has a relatively shallow root system for its height so your garden should not be exposed to strong wind Monitor moisture. Aloe Ferox is intended for arid desert conditions and is drought tolerant. It will rot if exposed to rain without a fast-draining soil so drainage is the most important factor in the care of this plant. You may water it occasionally in very dry summer months. Let it drain completely and never let it stay saturated. View our other items by clicking on the shield:
