As a study, it's set out to define these questions: How are the opportunities, challenges and obstacles facing South Africa Indian Muslim woman within the family, perceived and experienced by the individual? To what extent, if at all, does traditionalist culture create/influence a gap between opportunity and achievement for South Africa Indian Muslim Women? The statement that "woman are diamonds" is often used by Indian Muslim traditionalists to justify the abject seclusion of woman. In this view, that which is valuable should be hidden in safekeeping. The metaphor of the diamond is used to illustrate the objectification of daughters borne of honour-bound societies, and the limits put to the administration of their lives, in keeping with the code of honour. This study is a comment on the notion that, in keeping with this honour code, there is a fine line between maintaining the dignity of a people and infringing on the rights of the individual. It also asks whether woman are able to carve out a space for themselves within which a fully reflexive life may be loved in spite of the restrictions placed on them. It is ordered on demand from our supplier and is usually dispatched within 7 - 15 working days Rudyard Kipling has been described as 'one of the few complete originals in English literature'. In his last work, Something of Myself, he reflects on his life and the basis of his art. Yet paradoxically this ostensibly autobiographical work (as an early critic pointed out) actually discloses very little of himself. Thomas Pinney's revealing edition now uncovers the extraordinary extent to which Kipling's account of his life fails to match the biographical facts, in a series of selections, omissions and distortions. Illustrated with Kipling's own satirical drawings from the manuscripts, and brought together with his other autobiographical writings (some previously unpublished), this fascinating book sheds new light on the intriguing relationship between Kipling's life and work. Author: Ida B. Wells Publisher: Penguin Classics (2014) ISBN-10: 0143106821 ISBN-13: 9780143106821 Condition: Very Good. The cover has a few light scratches and wear to edges and corners. Binding: Softcover Pages: 581 Dimensions: 19.6 x 12.7 x 2.8 cm +++ by Ida B. Wells +++ The broadest and most comprehensive collection of writings available by an early civil and women's rights pioneer. Seventy-one years before Rosa Parks's courageous act of resistance, police dragged a young Black journalist named Ida B. Wells off a train for refusing to give up her seat. The experience shaped Wells's career, and - when hate crimes touched her life personally - she mounted what was to become her life's work: an anti-lynching crusade that captured international attention. This volume covers the entire scope of Wells's remarkable career, collecting her early writings, articles exposing the horrors of lynching, essays from her travels abroad, and her later journalism. The Light of Truth is both an invaluable resource for study and a testament to Wells' long career as a civil rights activist.

Louise L. Hay, whose writings and talks have brought inspiration, hope, and healing to millions of people around the world, credits The Game of Life (and the entire body of work by Florence Scovel Shinn) for inspiring her at a key turning point in her early career. Shinn was one of the gifted teachers who profoundly shaped the field of personal transformation and spiritual growth. Her writings are known for their clarity, simplicity, and power. In addition to the original text of the book, included within is a new interpretation of this transformational classic, titled The Game of Life for Women. This second part of the book speaks directly to women about how to own their true power. At the same time, however, it speaks to men who wish to not only understand the women around them, but also embrace their own power by tapping in to the universal principles beneath gender differences. Whether male or female, you will likely reach a similar conclusion: It is a book for the ages, to be treasured and studied and taken to heart. Format:Paperback / softback

(This title is available on demand: expected date of dispatch will be 4-7 working days once ordered) "Swami Kripalu, affectionately known as Bapuji (or dear father), was one of the greatest Kundalini yogis of the 20th Century. Scholar, classical musician, composer, playwright, athlete, actor, and consummate story-teller, Bapuji was most renowned for his practice of sahaj or spontaneous yoga and his encyclopedic writings on yoga and classical music. He lived in the western state of Gujarat from 1913 to 1981. Although Bapuji visited the US from 1977-1981, few of his writings have been translated into English. Thus the full impact of his wisdom is yet to be felt in the west. Atma's thoughtful and creative approach to his life and teachings in "Pilgrim of Love" builds a strong foundation for getting to know this extraordinary master of yoga." --Stephen Cope, author of "Yoga and the Quest for the True Self" Kripalu Yoga, originally pioneered by Yogi Amrit Desai and later developed into a structured practice by key Kripalu teachers, provides an introduction to the life-transforming yogic principles that are Bapuji's legacy to Kripalu Center. With his teachings as its foundation, Kripalu Center is the largest residential yoga center in the world and is located in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. Offering year-round trainings, programs and health services, Kripalu Center provides the means for guests to develop awareness, cultivate health, and embark on a journey of deep spiritual transformation--all through the application of the tools of yoga. Atma Jo Ann Levitt, M.A., R.N., is a certified yoga teacher, Healing Touch practitioner, and author of three books, including The Kripalu Cookbook: Gourmet Vegetarian Recipes. She pioneered many growth and wellness programs at Kripalu Center. She is coauthor of a book on sibling relationships, Sibling Revelry: 8 Steps to a Successful Adult Sibling Relationship.
