Group of 3 World War 1 Miniatures - Rare The British War Medal, 1914-18 Established on 26th July 1919. Also known as 'Squeak'. The silver or bronze medal was awarded to officers and men of the British and Imperial Forces who either entered a theatre of war or entered service overseas between 5th August 1914 and 11th November 1918 inclusive. This was later extended to services in Russia, Siberia and some other areas in 1919 and 1920. Approximately 6.5 million British War Medals were issued. Approximately 6.4 million of these were the silver versions of this medal. Around 110,000 of a bronze version were issued mainly to Chinese, Maltese and Indian Labour Corps. The front (obv or obverse) of the medal depicts the head of George V. The Allied Victory Medal Also known as 'Wilfred' It was decided that each of the allies should each issue their own bronze victory medal with a similar design, similar equivalent wording and identical ribbon. The British medal was designed by W. McMillan. The front depicts a winged classical figure representing victory. Approximately 5.7 million victory medals were issued. Interestingly, eligibility for this medal was more restrictive and not everyone who received the British War Medal ('Squeak') also received the Victory Medal ('Wilfred'). However, in general, all recipients of 'Wilfred' also received 'Squeak' and all recipients of 'Pip' also received both 'Squeak' and 'Wilfred'. The Territorial Force War Medal, 1914-1919 Very Rare Instituted on 26th April 1920. Only members of the Territorial Force and Territorial Force Nursing Service were only eligible for this medal. They had to have been a member of the Territorial Force on or before 30th September 1914 and to have served in an operational theatre of war outside the United Kingdom between 5th August 1914 and 11th November 1918. An individual who was eligible to receive the 1914 Star or 1914/15 Star could not receive the Territorial War Medal. The obverse (front) of the medal shows an effigy of King George V with the words GEORGIVS BRITT OMN:REX ET IND: IMP: The reverse of the medal has the words TERRITORIAL WAR MEDAL around the rim, with a laurel wreath and the words inside the wreath FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE OVERSEAS 1914-1919. Approximately 34,000 Territorial Force War Medals were issued. Condition: As per photo's

A full-size correctly named WW2 and Police medal group to WO Stephanus Jacobus Marais SAP number: 197959. Confirmed POW. See pictures of records below. Court mounted for display. PLEASE note: on the reverse of the medals there is some non-acidic clear silicone, probably to keep the medals in place. The medals are correctly named (see pictures) and are in good condition, no damage - my view. The POW status is also confirmed in King's book on the Police - see pictures.   The above picture shows where some twit used non acidic silicone to keep the medals in place. This does not detract from a good complete POW group. The above picture shows the naming on the 1939/45 Star. Naming on the Police Star of Merit shows he received this medal on the 16/05/1965. Naming on the Police Good Service Medal. The above confirms his POW status (Terence King book). Marais's name just above the ruler. WW2 medals confirmed in his records. A nice complete Police WW2 POW medal group. Worthy of much more research. Above WW2 record shows him missing and then confirmed POW. Overseas bidders welcome but you retain the risk of postage. No paypal - only Creditcard. NO SAPO for domestic bidders - only POSTNET (R120.00) or Courier (Please wait for charges). Please do not ask for SAPO as I will delete your bid and register an SNC, even if you win. If you don't like the postage options - Don't bid. Only SA bidders who can access Bobpay or the CC facility should bid. No paypal. Postnet costs include packaging and transport. IF YOU PAY ONLY THE STANDARD  POSTNET COSTS I WILL WITHHOLD THE ITEM UNTIL THE OUTSTANDING AMOUNT IS PAID. Payment to be completed within 48 hours of winning bid confirmation

A fully confirmed scarce WW2 / SADF medal group to WO Stanley Belton with both the Union medal (numbered 1035) and Pro Merito medal (numbered  130). He serves in East Africa and Abyssinia as T.S.C and then re-musters PF to SA Navy. All the medals are confirmed in his records - see pictures for more details. Interestingly he is nominated twice for the PMM in 1967 and 1970 and only received the medal in 1970. He also earns the clasp to the Union medal (the clasp is mint and SAM marked - also rare). The clasp alone seems to garner a price in excess of R1500 for some reason). His records show his award of the clasp, the medals and the confirmation of the medal numbers - a real find for the collector who looks for scarce combinations. All WW2 medals are also confirmed. Please note the clasp has not been fixed to the court mounted group. Comes with full file of information. Please note the PMM has some wear and tear. Overseas buyers welcome - you retain the risk of postage. No paypal only Credit card. NO SAPO for domestic bidders - only POSTNET (R140.00) or Courier (Please wait for charges). Please do not ask for SAPO as I will delete your bid and register an SNC, even if you win. If you don't like the postage options - Don't bid. Only SA bidders who can access Bobpay or the CC facility should bid. No paypal. Payment to be completed within 48 hours of winning bid confirmation. If no payment after 7 days - SNC will be registered, no exceptions.
