What a great find for the Collector of Rare Africana and Militaria or perhaps for the dog lover. The book "Just Nuisance" is affectionately written about the large Great Dane named "Just Nuisance" who became the first dog to serve as an Able Seaman in the Royal Navy of South Africa. The book is a First Edition, printed late 1940's, with hardboard cover which has become unattached from the pages which are stapled together. It measures 19.5x15.5cm, has 36 pages and is illustrated in b/w. There is some scuffing on the corners and some age-related wear. From the Internet: "On 25 August 1939 one of the most unusual Able Seamen ever to serve in the Royal Navy began his service. He was Able Seaman Just Nuisance, on the pay sheet of H.M.S. Afrikander, under the command of Commander C.B.O. Shakespear, RN. In fact this AB was unique - the one and only Great Dane to achieve this rank....." The book is in Port Elizabeth and may be viewed in Lorraine.
