Our focus We consult on and manage solar energy projects in South Africa. We focus on residential and light commercial solar thermal and grid- tied photovoltaic projects. We do not accept projects whereby the delivery expectation is unreasonable. We are selective about the projects we accept. We choose to remain specialised in a sector where can achieve predictable results and a reputation for over delivery at a reasonable investment. Pricing and Profitability We keep our infrastructure fluid, and expect skill set cross pollination from our design & engineering team, thus avoiding unnecessary overheads flooding into the cost of the project and diluting value. In terms of initial investment the projects we select are priced to win. In terms of our accounting practises, we do not negotiate on project proposals. Our profit from project delivery is capped at 20%, of which 10% is donated to Charity Trust Fund- for the benefit of David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya. Grid Tied Solar Photovoltaic System Residential grid connected photovoltaic systems which have capacity less than 6 kilowatts can meet the load of most consumers. They can feed excess power to the grid, which in this case acts as a battery for the system. Photovoltaic wattage may be less than average consumption, in which case the consumer will continue to purchase grid energy, but a lesser amount than previously. If photovoltaic wattage substantially exceeds average consumption, the energy produced by the panels will be much in excess of the demand. In this case, the excess power can yield potential revenue by selling it to the grid. Depending on their agreement with their local municipality, the consumer only needs to pay the cost of electricity consumed less the value of electricity generated. Integrated Solar Thermal Water Heating Skybridge Solar Water Heating Systems are manufactured and supplied by or technology partners. They carry the SABS mark of approval to indicate its compliance to product specifications SANS and SANS 151. This includes mechanical and thermal testing. Our systems are fitted with a backup electric element. So in the event of bad weather our systems also work as a conventional electric geyser. As water heating constitutes 50% of the total energy consumption of a typical household, a Solar Water Heating system could affect an overall saving of 40% on a domestic electricity bill if sized correctly and installed to SANS compliance. Carbon Compliance Policy Due to the high solar radiation levels in South Africa, as much as 80 % of the energy Solar Water Heaters used to warm the water is absorbed from the sun. The aggregated 80% saving in electricity amounts to kWh of energy over a single year. This is effectively kWh of energy that Eskom no longer needs to produce from coal, thus avoiding 3 Tons of CO2 into what has become a fragile atmosphere. Going Solar is the best way.
