BUGTIME ADVENTURES A BIBLE STORY - A GIANT PROBLEM - STORY OF DAVID AND GOLIATH Synopsis: The Armies of Israel are challenged to send out a single soldier to do battle with Goliath. No soldier is courageous enough to take on the task, at least not until little David walks onto the scene. David stoops down and gathers five smooth stones and stands in Faith to fight the giant! Meanwhile, at the feet of the humans, another huge drama unfolds as Buggelsville, the tiny bug town, is threatened with total destruction from the cracked and leaking water dam. Spud, the potato-bug civil engineer, has figured out a way for someone to plug up the hole before the dam breaks but who will be brave enough to try? Can Megan, the town's school-teacher ant, gather enough courage to accomplish the job? "A Giant Problem" teaches the importance of courage and faith.   Starring: Animation   Category: Animation, Biblical   Age Restriction: ALL AGES

The climactic death-throes of Soviet Communism during the 1980's included a last-gasp attempt at strategic franchise expansion in Southern Africa. Channelled through Castro's Cuba, oil-rich Angolan armed forces (FAPLA) received billions of dollars of advanced weaponry including MiG 23 and Sukhoi fighter jets, SAM 8 missile systems and thousands of armoured vehicles. Their   intent - to eradicate the US-backed Angolan opposition (UNITA), then push southwards into South Africa's protectorate SWA/Namibia, ostensibly as liberators. 1985 saw the first large-scale mechanized offensive in Southern African history. Russian Generals planned and oversaw the offensive but without properly accounting for the tenacity of UNITA (supported by the South African Defence Forces - SADF) or the treacherous terrain typical in the rainy season. The '85 offensive floundered in the mud and FAPLA returned to their capital Luanda. The South Africans stood down, confident their 'covert' support for UNITA had demonstrated the folly of prosecuting war so far from home against Africa's military Superpower. The South Africans were mistaken. Fidel and FAPLA immediately redoubled their efforts, strengthening fifteen battalions with even more Soviet hardware while Russian and Cuban specialists oversaw troop training. As Cuban and Angola fighter pilots honed their skills over the skies of Northern Angola, David Mannall, a normal 17-year old kid completing High School, was preparing for two years of compulsory military service before beginning Tertiary education. Through a series of fateful twists he found himself leading soldiers in a number of full-scale armoured clashes including the largest and most decisive battle on African soil since World War II. This is the David and Goliath story that, due to seismic political changes in the region, has never been truthfully told. The author lifts the hatch on his story of how Charlie Squadron, comprising just twelve 90mm AFVs crewed by 36 national servicemen, as part of the elite 61 Mechanised Battalion, engaged and effectively annihilated the giant FAPLA 47th Armoured Brigade in one day - 3 October 1987. Their 90mm cannons were never designed as tank-killers but any assurances that it would never be used against heavy armour were left in the classroom during the three-month operation and never more starkly than the decisive 'Battle on The Lomba River'. The Communist-backed offensive died that day along with hundreds of opposition fighters. 47th Brigade survivors abandoned their remaining equipment, fleeing north across the Lomba, eventually joining the 59th Brigade in what became a full-scale retreat of over ten thousand soldiers to Cuito Cuanavale. The myth perpetuated by post-apartheid politicians goes something like this "The SADF force that destroyed 47th Brigade on 3 October numbered 6,000 men and that all the hard yards were run by the long suffering UNITA!" The inconvenient truth is that there were just 36 South African boys on the front-line that day, but it is also true to say they would never have achieved such a stunning victory without the support of many more. This is their story. Paperback, 192 pages First Published October 2014, Second Revised Edition May 2015

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle is the first novel by American author David Wroblewski. It became a New York Times Best Seller on June , and Oprah Winfrey chose it for her book club on September . Winfrey also included the book as one of the few tangible gifts in her recession-themed thrifty Oprah's Favorite Things that year. The novel is a retelling of Shakespeare 's Hamlet in rural Wisconsin. The titular character is a mute boy who, after his father is killed, runs away from but then returns to his usurped home, hoping to prove his suspicions that his uncle murdered his father.       ·         *N.B.*   If you buy more than one book from me on the same day you only pay R 6 extra postage for each of the additional books instead of R 24.    See what else I have to offer, it might just be worth your while.

People who have stolen from me by David Cohen First edition   The story of Harry Rubin and Jack Sher who runs a Johannesburg furniture business and is robbed repeatedly. A study of crime and theft, where people in the new South Africa feel stealing is taking back what they perceive they own and which is now South Africa ’s biggest growth industry.  It reveals the hidden psychology of the perpetrators, black and white, including friends, staff and fraudsters and how the social forces at work in South Africa believe that they can steal what really belong to them in the first place. Written on the tenth anniversary of the fall of apartheid, People who have stolen from me is a  wry, witty but revealing look at a situation that has made South Africa a corrupt and conscienceless, thieving society.    Picador Africa First edition p. 1990.  Hard cover with dust cover. 875 pages. Very good condition. Tightly bound, neat and clean. The dust cover has wear and tear.  Over 1kg. ABOUT FACE is the extraordinary story of the life of one of America's most unique fighting men. On June 27, 1971, David Hackworth became the US Army's most outspoken critic, denouncing on network television the American war effort in Vietnam as tragically misguided. Hackworth says in About Face that he never would have believed it if someone had told him he would be 'checking out of the Army any way but feet first'. Hackworth's incredible life story has been a consistent bestseller for over six years in the US. It is a remarkable account of a man whose unmatched battlefield achievements have made him a living legend. But the medals and accolades did not counter his growing disillusionment with the Vietnam War, which he came to see as immoral and unwinnable. Finally, ABOUT FACE is a stunning indictment, not just of the Pentagon's fundamental misunderstanding of the Vietnam conflict, but of the bureaucracy and self-interest that fueled that lost war.
