Chrysanthemum leucanthemum Seeds Common Names: Ox-Eye Daisy, White Daisy, Margurite Daisy, Moon Daisy, Oxeye Ox-Eye Daisy (Chrysanthemum Leucanthemum) is a short-lived perennial originally brought here from Europe. It is a beautiful flower, and it is one of our toughest perennial wildflowers. Ox-eye daisy requires cold winters to initiate blooming. The leaves are very thick, and feel leathery to the touch. Flowers are pure white with mustard-yellow centers, individually borne on single erect stems. This is the common roadside daisy. Ox-Eye Daisy (Chrysanthemum Leucanthemum) is one of the first wild perennials to bloom in any meadow. First spring after germination the season before, bloom is extremely early and very profuse. The plant also reproduces vegetatively with spreading rootstalks. Blooms second and successive years from expanding clumps. Plant the seed anytime, and expect bloom after one full winter. (This species will not bloom in no-frost regions.) This plant is a great cut flower. You're buying a pack of 25 Seeds We'll supply you with all the germination and care instructions.

Gerbera is a genus of approximately 30 species from the sunflower family, Asteraceae. It was named in honour of the German botanist and naturalist Traugott Gerber. They are found in South America, Africa and tropical Asia. Gerbera species bear a large capitulum with striking, two-lipped ray florets in yellow, orange, white, pink or red colours. The capitulum, which has the appearance of a single flower, is actually composed of hundreds of individual flowers. The morphology of the flowers varies depending on their position in the capitulum. Gerbera is very popular and widely used as a decorative garden plant or as cut flowers. Gerbera contains naturally occurring coumarin derivatives. They are attractive to bees, butterflies and birds. Their soil should be kept moist but not soaked.           Gerbera jamesonii is a South African indigenous species from the Barberton area in the Northern Province is a deservedly popular garden plant throughout the world and is one of the parents of the many showy Gerbera hybrids seen in florist shops. It is a perennial herb with deeply lobed leaves covered with silky hairs arising from a crown. The striking inflorescence is borne on a long stalk and the outermost petals (ray florets) may be cream, red, orange or pink, while the central flowers (disc florets) are cream. Flowering occurs in spring and autumn. Gerbera jamesonii is found naturally in grassland in sandy, well-drained soils in Mpumalanga. A favourite of many people; they are bright, colourful, pretty flowers that make both the garden and any floral arrangement appear vibrant and alive. Growing your own at home is easy provided that you have suitable garden space. You can even grow some in a windowsill pot if wished.

BRACHYCOME iberidifolia, or Swan River Daisy A care-free perennial that forms clouds of soft colour. The dainty, star-like blooms sit on top of mounds of feathery foliage. Often grown as an annual. Dozens of beautiful, dainty, 2.5cm flowers appear all at one time, most often in light hues, each with a yellow centre rimmed in white. It is one of the most profuse and long-flowering plants, each often producing well over 100 blue to purple flowers. Flowers bloom until late autumn; it flowers so heavily that the foliage is often obscured. The cheerful little pinwheels form at the ends of the stalks and are held above pale green, feathery foliage. The plant is a pretty companion for verbena and coreopsis. The feathery foliage forms an interesting contrast when used with broad leaf plants such as morning glory. Its tidy, mounding growth habit is welcome toward the front of the border or as an edging. Brachycome is a good choice for filling in around tall, leggy plants and carpeting bare spots. In a container or window box, brachycome sends its short, sprawling stems cascading over the rim and showering flowers over the sides. They are especially effective as mass plantings, draping over retaining walls, in pots, hanging baskets and as borders. With minimal care this species is a prolific flowerer and is a beautiful addition to any garden.   View our other items by clicking on the shield:
