MAINTENANCE PLANNER, AUTOMOTIVE COMPONENT MANUFACTURING IN SOUTH AFRICA

Purpose of the position: Perform and execute all activities relating to the implementation of the company maintenance programs. Main Duties and Responsibilities include: Planning  Ensuring that materials, spares, equipment and labour requirements are available at all times.  Weekly manpower scheduling for shifts, weekend work, and standby.  Weekly planning for maintenance jobs to be carried out.  Planning and scheduling for shutdowns maintenance, (major and minor).  Ensuring Preventative Maintenance is carried out according to schedules.  Creating maintenance schedules for new equipment and updating maintenance schedules for existing equipment. Purchasing  Obtaining quotations for spares/consumables to be ordered and completing the purchasing process  Liaising with the purchasing and stores departments to ensure all critical spares are in stock and above their reorder point.  Following up on purchase orders until spares/services are delivered and documentation is filed and captured accordingly.  Frequently check stock levels for all spares/materials and order in time  Personnel Coordination  Daily assignment of individual technicians to specific jobs.  Monitoring progress of personnel on jobs carried out on a daily basis.  Verifying clocking times and overtime reports for maintenance personnel, and submitting in time to Salaries Department Administrative Role  Maintaining up to date essential records and files from which management reports are prepared, and analysing data for input to management reports.  Receiving and Issuing of maintenance job cards and schedules, and reviewing feedback and capturing of maintenance job cards and schedules.  Assisting the Maintenance Manager in periodic trend analysis of breakdowns and expenditure with recommendations for continual improvement.  Developing task instructions. Other roles  Involvement in daily emergencies and urgent work requests.  Completion of basic preventative maintenance.  Ensuring System and safe working standards are adhered to at all times by the maintenance team and enforcing/counselling team when standards are not adhered to.  Keeping the Maintenance Manager informed of abnormal or critical situations and seeking advice on matters outside the Planner's knowledge or authority.  Ensuring maintenance procedures and documentation complies with relevant Quality Assurance standards and Safety Standards Ideal Experience and Qualifications:  N4 in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering – Trade Tested or similar  5 years’ experience in a factory maintenance environment  Computer literacy is a must.  Ability to learn fast and be independent  Excellent leadership and organizational skills  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Experience in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems preferred.
