CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND HUMAN RESOURCES SENIOR IN SOUTH AFRICA
To plan, coordinate, monitor and successfully implement all corporate social responsibility; certification programmes (e.g. Global Gap and SIZA); legal requirements pertaining to South African labour legislation; BEE; EE; Human Resource components such as new hires, training and development. Overall responsibility for compliance as defined by Labour Law, Health & Safety legislation and certified Farming Practise initiatives. To manage a small supporting team consisting of the Sustainability Manager, an assistant and all committees. Basic Duties: Policy, procedure and contracts of employment design. PR, e.g. Facebook updates & editorial ads. Monitor the implementation of labour, farming practises and health and safety policies and procedures in the business. Ensure compliance. Liaison with Department of Labour on discretionary matters. Maintain up to date online databases (e.g. SEDEX and SIZA). Run internal EE, Housing, Workers and Health & Safety committees. Ensure committees are trained up, take minutes, and follow up on unresolved issues. Arrange external audits (Global Gap, SIZA, BEE, and Dairy Standards) to maintain accreditation status and ensure all internal parties are knowledgeable and participate. Co-ordinate between all parties and requirements to pass audits successfully. Risk assessments and the management thereof. Investigations and Reporting. Yearly reporting on our Journey (3 P’s), following the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines for sustainability reporting. (A copy of previous reports can be sent to you to get a feeling of what level of reporting is expected.) Investigation, costing and initiation of new Corporate Social Responsibility projects. Experience/Qualities: Proven working experience in this field, your application must show that you have performed at least 90% of these duties; Up to date legislative and procedural knowledge. Be informed, and understand, new legislative changes and be prepared to advise and implement within the Company; Minimum 10 years’ experience in an agricultural environment with knowledge and experience with external audits would have preference; The ability to explain and communicate complex concepts in a simple and uncomplicated manner; The ability to interact with all levels of staff; The ability to multi-task and deal with changing priorities; Great attention to detail; Computer literate with intermediate Word, Excel and internet abilities; Be a fast learner to learn the components of the job you are unfamiliar with; Be able to work fast and accurately; Not be scared to work hard and apply common sense; Must be able to handle stress; Proactive; Both strategic and practical; Have a strong personality; Friendly and even tempered individuals will fit in well with colleagues; Fully bilingual with excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate must enjoy farm living as we are situated between the picturesque Riviersonderend and Greyton in the Overberg District.
